Dr Kurt Crowley (Malvern PA) … “Twenty years ago, when I was 61 and I had my annual physical, Dr. Crowley told me that my lab numbers were good and that my health was fine. However, he concluded by remarking that he didn’t know why I had swollen ankles, and he encouraged me to see a kidney doctor — which I did. She in turn sent me overnight to the hospital for a biopsy which, when the test results came in, led her to say: ‘I still don’t know what’s causing your swollen ankles, but I think you have a malignancy someplace in your body and you should get an MRI.’ That test led to a surgery, to remove a growth on the upper right lobe of my lung which (while I was still in the operating room) toxicology confirmed was cancerous — which led the surgeon to remove the whole lobe. That was on a Thursday. On Monday, further tests showed that the cancer in the lobe had not reached the lymph nodes and so had not yet spread. Thus, in short, Dr. Crowley’s thoroughness and follow-through led me to an unplanned surgery that saved my life — and allowed me to be around to celebrate my 81st birthday a few months ago. I am grateful to God and my doctor !

When I see a photo from last Spring I think of the fact that without Dr. Crowley's immediate diagnosis of two conditions, we wouldn't have been able to tour Italy. 6 years earlier I called and rushed into Dr. Crowley's office explaining my husband's symptoms. Dr. Crowley squeezed my hand and said to tell the Emergency Room staff that Ray needed a cat scan immediately. His instant diagnosis of a brain bleed saved Ray's life. During the month of having Ray shuttle by ambulance among four hospitals, Dr. Crowley called me in to check on me, the caregiver and advocate. He knew he had two patients! Jump forward 5 years and suddenly I went from able to disabled practically overnight. I could only walk three steps. Dr. Crowley assessed my condition and got all the ducks in a row so that I could get all the care I needed very quickly to get me walking again. Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
