About M. Angela Madden, MD
As a primary care physician, I am committed to the well-being of my patients. I believe in the power of preventive health measures to help enhance lives. My philosophy centers on a proactive approach to healthcare, education and personalized care.
By building stronger doctor-patient relationships, I strive to create a supportive environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns and participating in their healthcare journey.
Through comprehensive screenings and having more time to spend with patients, I can work with them to develop unique action plans as they pursue their health goals. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices.
Ultimately, my goal is not only to review illness, but foster partnerships with patients and support them as they work to improve their health.

Reviews from the web

I live in Pennsylvania so it is important to get clear and concise medical advice about mom and her condition.
Despite the fact that I am clearly listed as my mom’s medical representative, over the years her office staff have been incapable of returning my calls or fulfilling my requests for information.
After a major stroke in November Dr Madden was clear that mom needed 24/7 supervision. I flew down the day of her stroke to be with her. I took a three month leave of absence from my job (FMLA) to stay and oversee mom’s recovery and rehab, set up an assisted living contract in PA, pack her belongings, dispose of her furniture, get her home on the market, and prepare her for relocating.
The FMLA paperwork requires that mom’s doctor complete forms. I dropped them at the doctor’s office about November 23 and, despite several calls asking if the forms were ready, I did not receive anything until mom’s post hospitalization appointment with Dr Madden on Dec. 10, more than two weeks later. My HR department was not happy about that.
At the December 10 appointment we discussed the doctor’s move to a concierge practice beginning in January and she assured me it would be no problem whatsoever to see mom one last time before her departure on Feb 1. We scheduled a final appointment on January 17.
Meanwhile, on January 2 the assisted living facility faxed a request for mom’s records to Madden’s office, a requirement for acceptance to their facility. Again and again I asked Madden’s assistant Brian to get those records sent so that we could have everything in place for the move on February 1. What he did finally send was Incomplete. I was stuck between one place requesting specific records and another place that wasn’t complying with the request in a timely manner.
On January 16 - two weeks after the initial faxed request- mom and I drove to the office armed with a copy of the facility’s request and insisted that they send it. We were told the doctor had sent what was necessary. I responded that the records are my mother’s and she wants them sent in full. We sat there for almost an hour until he handed us a fax verification stating that 6 pages had gone through. I asked for a copy of what was sent. He demurred. I insisted. He said I wasn’t nice.
I finally got a copy of the documents, photographed them and sent them to the assisted living.
Today we returned for mom’s final appointment and were told she “didn’t have one. She had her records and she was done.” We were told the doctor now had a concierge practice and mom hadn’t signed up. I mentioned the doctor’s reassurance in December that it wouldn’t make a difference.
To no avail.
After several long minutes of waiting in the outer office, the receptionist returned and said
they would try to squeeze her in next week before she left and asked for my cell so they could fill a cancellation. We declined and left. But I did tell the receptionist that they owed my 90-year-old mother an apology for the disrespectful way they had dismissed her.
Look - my mom really likes Dr. Madden. She has a charming Irish brogue and a caring and comforting manner. I am sure she is really a reassuring presence for her patients. But patients routinely wait as long as 60-90 minutes to be seen.
I have learned that all of my mom’s friends who have transported her to appointments over the years were fed up with the disrespect shown for the time of patients and their caregivers and will no longer accompany her.
The purpose of this rant is to point out that Dr. Madden is ultimately responsible for the way her office treats patients. Warm, soothing voices are not enough. Competence, prompt responses to requests, and thorough communication with the medical representatives of her elderly patients is essential.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
