About Marc Scarbrough, MD, FACP
My goal as your internal medicine primary care physician is to partner with you to create a personalized healthcare plan to treat your current health problems and to help prevent new ones. I believe that a healthy lifestyle is the best medical therapy possible, and I will assist you with making shared, informed decisions toward achieving your goals.
As an MDVIP-affiliated doctor, I have more time to develop close relationships with my patients, carefully review patient records and perform more comprehensive exams. I hope to not only be your physician, but also a trusted friend guiding you through the complexities of today's medical environment.
I also hope to offer you an optimal healthcare experience. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments.
Lawrence has been my home for many years now. I am affiliated with LMH Health/Lawrence Memorial Hospital and serve Lawrence and the surrounding Douglas, Franklin and Leavenworth county communities of Eudora, Tonganoxie and Baldwin City.

What our members are saying
I sought advice from Dr. Scarbrough regarding my Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care. During this process he advised and answered my questions about the DNR, the Living Will, the Transportable Physician Orders, plus my own document about my personal preferences for end-of-life care. I used his information to modify these documents, and they were then witnessed…
Reviews from the web
In January 2024, Dr. Scarbrough again responded to evening texts from me when I had a respiratory illness and was coughing up blood. Several people in my family had been ill and I assumed I had the same virus. After telling him about my low oxygen readings & other symptoms, he again told me to go to the ER. When I got there I was admitted immediately with a blood oxygen level of 68 & the staff eventually figured out I had pneumonia and a strep infection in my blood that had made me septic. I was very sick and they told me I could have died if I had waited to get treated. I spent 4.5 days in the hospital and was admitted to the ICU. Dr. Scarbrough visited me in the hospital and followed up with me in person & via text when I was discharged.
I have been very grateful for my MDVIP membership & Dr. Scarbrough in both of these situations. After my release from the hospital in January during a follow up appointment, Dr. Scarbrough & I were joking about our texting relationship & he said he will always respond to my texts because he has learned that I am usually right about something not being right with my health! I am very grateful for his care and for taking my concerns seriously!
Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
