About Maria Concepcion Asesor, MD
My goal as your internal medicine physician is to provide comprehensive care in the prevention and treatment of diseases. I believe it is important to know and listen to each patient in order to take care of the whole person.
As one of a few female internists providing this personalized care approach in the Northern Virginia area, we can utilize MDVIP’s annual wellness program to create your personalized healthcare plan. The ability to reach me during and after hours and extended visits have helped several patients gain better control of their chronic medical problems rather than those problems controlling them. I treat a variety of medical conditions and have special interests in diabetes and hypercholesterolemia. I hold virtual Zumba classes for my members. I speak English and Tagalog.
As your private doctor, I will help you navigate the healthcare system, which can be a daunting process, and I will be your advocate for any healthcare concerns outside of my office. I look forward to being your physician partner as we begin your journey towards a healthier you.

Reviews from the web

doctor. Thorough explanation of my condition and progress review where I can look forward to what I need to do - for prevention. Very Professional.

After a recent bad post-op experience, she was the doctor, not the surgeon, who checked in on me and followed up on my progress.
She encourages me to adapt to aging and constantly sends me positive messages and helpful information.

I called and made an appointment for an annual physical. Was given a date to come in after work in the late afternoon. Fasted. All day (not ideal, but whatever). Show up at the time I was told to come in. The lady at the front desk proceeds to tell me that it had not been a year since my last physical (that I had done there the previous year) and I was not on the schedule. I asked why I was given a time to come in if I was not due for my annual yet. To which she responds "yeah I dont know what happened".
At that point I asked if I could get my flu shot since I was there (so it wasn't a total waste of time), and I did. So I rescheduled my annual physical for the next month (it would have been a year by then).
On to the next appointment. This one is before work in the morning (more reasonable for fasting). I show up, see the doc, everything is all good. After his part, he tells me to go wait in lobby and they will grab me when they are ready to do my bloodwork.....5, 10, 15 mins pass, then 20....finally someone from the front of the house says their computers are down and they don't know when they will be back up....at that point I had waited in the lobby for 20 mins for something that was never going to happen. (I had overheard some of the other front office staff scrambling to get it to work before I went back to see the doc, but figured that they had resolved the issue while I was back with the doc)
So let's recap...took time off of work for my first "appointment" and only got a flu shot. Took more time off of work to come back for my "rescheduled" appointment and couldn't get everything done and was told to just show up (having fasted again) on a random day. So in total, I have fasted for 24 hours for zero bloodwork and I guess I will have to do it for another 12 hours....
All of this could be forgiven (I know stuff happens) IF there was some sort of remorse/apology on their end for wasting quite a bit if my time, but there was none....I dare say there was almost some blame for my first appointment put on me for not knowing it hadn't been a full year since my last physical.
I say all of this to say...the front of the house staff in this office are terrible and I would not recommend going to them. There are hundreds of other practices in the NOVA area and I will be finding another primary care provider...

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
