About Mary Beth Butcher, MD
Prevention and wellness has been the foundation of my practice for over thirty years. Nutrition, exercise, sleep and regular detailed physician evaluations is essential to good health. Listening carefully to my patient, while engaging in the medical process, allows for superior results.
The medical landscape is even more complicated and having a veteran, personal physician to navigate and advocate on your behalf eases the burden and leads to faster results. This personalized approach can lead to lower medical costs and superior outcomes. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices. While I am affiliated with OhioHealth Riverside Hospital, I am well acquainted with most of the specialists in all disciplines at each Columbus hospital. Cardiovascular prevention, sleep medicine and general wellness strategies are among my specific interests. I have served the greater Columbus area for over thirty years.

Dr. Butcher is a great example of a physician who cares about her patients' health and wellbeing. Understanding the high cost of medical care, she goes above and beyond to educate her patients on alternative locations to have procedures and offers ideas on how to minimize expenses without impacting care. Lastly, Dr. Butcher discusses work, exercise and mental health habits as part of my care program. She does this before prematurely jumping into treating symptoms through medication. This might not be valuable to all, but she knows its valuable to me.

I have had a great experience with Dr. Butcher and MDVIP. She is very attentive, easy to get in touch with and very responsive. She was even extremely helpful when my daughter, a freshmen at OSU, got sick during finals week, contacting her professor, doing a telehealth visit and prescribing her medications. She rocks!

Dr. Butcher saved my life back in 2010.. Complications from cheap BC that my young OB-GYN put me on (she had a coupon in her desk) due to my employer's refusal to allow insurance coverage for the preferred, less problematic BC -led to weird symptoms uncontrollable coughing, sharp pains in back (it was my lungs), quick exertion (going up/down stairs & walking became long duration events.. thought I was dying. I was! Made a 1st time appt with Dr. Butcher who was recommended to me by a fibroid conference attendee 🙏🏿 Dr. Butcher completed my blood tests and MRI in less than 2 hrs which landed me in the emergency room and hospitalization for a week recovering from bi-pulmonary emboli (both lungs littered with blood clots from that trash BC). Thank you Dr. Butcher. You are Top Tier.

Worst doctor ever I was having anxiety…. she put me on Prozac…..it made me psychotic…. Told me I was bipolar she was gonna to put me on lithium…. Told her she didn’t know what she was doing….this was 30 something years ago in the 80s so glad that I didn’t listen to this quack because I have been fine ever since…

Tried to sign up for her MVIP service. Called her back she was busy doing paperwork and would call the following day. That never happened. Why would I invest in a 24/7 service with a doctor who wouldn't even take the time to get back to me to sign up??

Dr Butcher gives her full attention and compassionate care at her office visits. Her friendliness puts me at ease. She makes herself available by text after hours. She will see any members of my family who need help, even out of town visitors. Sometimes there can be delays in follow-ups or referrals to specialist care, or in getting call-backs from office staff, otherwise I would give a 5. Membership in this practice has been overall a very good investment!!

Dr. Butcher is a caring and knowledgeable physician. She knows how to navigate the health care system. She has always taken time to be with her patients. In the past, that meant you had to wait. Her knowledge of medicine and ability to find the right specialist literally saved my husband and mother’s lives. Dr Butcher was able to to listen to his symptoms, check his vitals and got him to a gastroenterologist within the week! He was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer. 10 years later he is still enjoying life💕
Another example, I called Dr Butcher and told her of three concerning symptoms my aged mother was complaining about while she was on vacation in Las Vegas! Dr Butcher advised us to go to the ER and what to test for! The ER Dr told us He never in a million years would he have tested for what led to the diagnosis!
The ER Dr said, “ your Dr. Is phenomenal “

MB provides outstanding medical care. She is incredibly smart and caring. I have significant health issues, MB stays on top of them all coordinating with specialists. I have great peace of mind knowing that I can rely on her. The best move she made was to switch to concierge medicine. I get quick responses to questions. Appointments are usually same day with little waiting. MB gives lots of personal follow-up.

Stay away! Dealing with billing, or anything with front desk is an absolute nightmare. They are still billing me 7 months later after having paid in full on visit, AND insurance paying them... they seem to refuse to reimburse and keep sending payment request.
Almost forgot about the multi hour wait times just to see Mary Butcher... Seriously 2.5 hours of sitting there to see the doctor. Then the visit was at least another hour, total turn around time of half a day spent at the doctor... crazy

I have been seeing Dr. MB for nearly 20 years. She is the most caring doctor that I have ever met and I trust my health with her. I gave 4 stars only because it generally takes a day or two, or more for responses to phone calls and refills. I think that in the past her staff lacked in communication; I also know that she likes to handle everything herself and puts in long hours after seeing patients to handle administrative stuff that perhaps someone else on staff could handle. In conclusion, Dr. MB is 5 stars but her practice is at 4 stars.

Scheduled an appointment two weeks ago, which she canceled due to overdue paperwork she needed to handle. Rescheduled but had to cancel appointment because she was running 3+ hours behind. Negligent, irresponsible and dangerous treatment of anyone with severe symptoms.

Dr. Butcher is the most caring Dr. I've ever had. Wait times can be long but, she is the ONLY Dr. there. You will never see a different Dr. She knows her patients on a level you would not get at a bigger practice with multiple Drs. on staff. She's the best you'll ever find.

Yes she runs long appointments but she's thorough and she truly does care. Here's a tip: always have the day off when you have an appointment and get the earliest time you can get. Here staff is great except for the guy. He won't help you get anything done so if you can ask for anyone else do it. His customer service is wack and should work on it.

Dr B is great, I have been seeing her for years. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable. I only gave a 4 because her receptionist Luke is not so great. He has no empathy for Dr B's patients in person or on the phone and I have witnessed this several times.
