About Mousumi Chanda-Kim, MD
It is my firm belief that the ideal way to practice medicine is for the physician to create and nurture a collaborative bond with the patient. My goal is to build trust with my patients by getting to know each of them and to customize an individualized treatment plan. My hope is that patients feel heard and understand the compassion and empathy I feel toward each of them. In addition, I believe it is very important to be detail‐oriented and thorough to get to the root of the underlying problem in order to solve it. In providing personalized care, I strive to improve both the longevity and quality of life for my patients.
As a female internal medicine specialist who has been practicing in Austin, Texas for the last 21 years, I enjoy treating a diverse set of conditions from depression and hypertension to women’s health issues. Moreover, my real passion is preventive care and wellness, focusing on uncovering underlying conditions in their early stages before they become full blown. I look forward to focusing on prevention in my MDVIP‐affiliated practice. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices. When the patient and the physician work together as a team, the results can be a wonderful life with great health!

Reviews from the web
On January 23, 2026, I went to a minor emergency center for a lingering cough and malaise. I requested a chest X-ray and the report showed pneumonia in my right lung Zithromax was prescribed. Upon an early afternoon discharge from the center, I emailed Dr. Chanda-Kim my X-ray report and then called her. When I told her that I had pneumonia, she replied, "You sure do". She asked me no questions regarding my symptoms, nor did she want me to come to her office to be checked. From then on, she became unavailable to me. I was really ill. I was not able to get any help with treatment when I called the office of Dr. Chanda-Kim on a few occasions. Her office staff (not medical professionals) repeatedly told me to go to the hospital. I said “No”which was my right. I felt that hospitalization was not in my best interest. It had always been my understanding that one of the purposes of MDVIP is if possible to avoid hospitalization. Since Dr. Chanda Kim never assessed me in person, she had no way to determine whether I could safely remain at home or if hospitalization was actually advisable. She didn't know whether my pneumonia was bacterial or viral. Something was amiss between the doctor and myself, which I could not make sense of. I thought we previously had a good relationship. I did not request a call back from her because I was too sick to be an advocate for myself. Shocked by her behavior as a doctor of internal medicine, I waited until I was strong enough to advocate for myself. Fortunately I had a daughter visiting me at the time of my illness. My daughters are not health professionals but they communicated long distance and worked on a medical plan for me to remain home. It was their suggestion that I be ordered a nebulizer with albuterol. I asked for an order and did receive it.
When I felt well enough, I called Dr. Chanda-Kim's office and told the staff how unhappy and shocked I was by her refusal to simply act like my doctor. It was then that Dr. Chanda-Kim finally called me back. She told me that she wanted the hospital to assess my condition. I responded that this was HER job. That was the reason my husband and I originally joined MDVIP. I am a polite person, assertive, not aggressive so I never crossed the line of rudeness. I told her that she betrayed me as my doctor. At the finish of our conversation, she said that she would not be able to serve as my doctor in the future which I did not need her input to figure that out. Her expectation was that I would have a new doctor within 30 days but that if I had any urgent medical concerns before then, she would be willing to see me. She sent me a certified letter saying the same thing. Whether to laugh or cry over that statement was the question since I was just recovering from an urgent medical need. She also informed me that she had a waiting list for patients wanting her as a doctor inferring that I was easily replaceable.
What Dr. Chanda-Kim did not recognize is that hospitals are not always the best solution for pneumonia. I knew that staying in my own clean home would be healthier and safer for me than a hospital where I could have been cross infected. She also didn't take into account that I have lived for 84 years and I just might know what is not in my best interest. Ignoring this fact was disrespectful of me on her part. I am now recovered enough to write this review. She was clearly punishing me for not obeying her staff’s orders.
My membership with MDVIP has cost me out of pocket $487.50 every 3 months.
My membership card states:
*"Reachable 24/7/365"
*"Same Day or Next Day Visits".
Neither of those criteria were met by Dr. Chanda-Kim.
Dr Chanda-Kim was thorough and explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. I am happy to have found this clinic for my skin care needs. Highly recommended!
Your expert and efficient staff meets the same level of excellence with every engagement. My granddaughter (5) came along for my blood work this round and the tech explained the procedure as she went and even endured she could see everything as it happened. The care is certainly worth the cost. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
