About Reeti K. Joshi, MD
As a rheumatologist and internist in Beaumont, Texas, for more than a decade, my focus prior to affiliating with MDVIP was on assisting patients with rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, especially as we worked to control inflammation and joint damage. I have long felt a calling to practice medicine in a much different way than traditional practices, and the MDVIP model allows me more time to spend with patients. In addition to reviewing an illness that may be at hand, I offer patients education and partnership that can help them work toward maintaining well-being and improving their health span (a concept referring to the number of healthier, disease-free years of life you could experience). I truly believe that, for life/health balance, one cannot be achieved without the other.
As a rheumatologist, I have experience in multiple conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, spondylarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, as well as rarer diseases such as sarcoidosis, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and Behcet's disease. All of these diseases have one thing in common -- they can potentially affect all the organs in the body. Symptoms can manifest differently in different patients and often can create not only physical but emotional burdens for patients and their families or caregivers.
I feel strongly that the most important component in reviewing a patient’s health is the patient’s story. For that reason, I aim to listen compassionately to my patients and offer personalized care inclusive of biologics and disease-modifying antirheumatic medications, where appropriate. I emphasize the opportunity to focus on holistic measures, too, such as companionship, lifestyle measures, skin checks, sleep quality and compassion for patients who are caregivers themselves. My special interest is the diseases that cause inflammation as well as their prevention. I believe patients can pursue longevity if they are able to work to control the inflammatory process.
My goal is to help patients as they pursue maintaining a healthy weight and balanced lifestyle and help educate them on how to incorporate mindfulness in their daily lives. Oftentimes, loneliness and social isolation are challenges for some of my very elderly patients, and I hope they welcome the thought of coming to our office, given the enriching and supportive environment we aim to provide.
As a long-time patient with an autoimmune disease myself, I have applied some of these principles to my own health and have been very pleased with the noticeable changes in my own life. I feel very strongly that my partnership with MDVIP helps me provide comprehensive tools, resources and data-driven care, which I believe my patients seek and deserve. My staff and I want to help empower our patients in their health goals and offer holistic measures to help address their care. I look forward to the opportunity to provide rheumatology care with a focus on individual attention to wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
