The Doctors Office called on Friday at 4:45 and left a message requesting I call the office because my blood work had returned from the lab with abnormalities... I called, no answer. I called back on Saturday, no office hours. I called back on Monday, and was told my group was not in until 1:30. I called back at 1:45, and was told that they were busy seeing patients. If I gave this level of service, I would be out of business.

MDVIP is a way to prey on those folks like my mother on convincing them that they’re getting better care if they pay a premium. Sadly that is not the case as evidenced by the “care” my mother received prior to going to the hospital and ultimately being with the Lord. There is also a disconnect between this office and MDVIP because she received an invoice for her next quarterly payment and she’s been gone for two months. Extremely frustrating and painful as this served as a reminder of my mom’s passing.

Dr Thomas is such a good physician and genuine people person. I've been seeing him a total of 20 years and the last 6 have been with MDVIP. I am always seen promptly, I don't have to wait 2 or 3 days for a return call. Thanks to his fitness plan. I have lost 45 lbs in just 6 months. I highly recommend him. His staff is full of All Stars also. Very courteous and good communicators

Sometimes you have to wait in a doctor's office. Knowing this going in makes it easier for me to "wait" perhaps the persons ahead of me are having really difficult/serious medical problems Maybe there was a medical emergency with a patient and they need more doc time. I know when I needed more time, I was given more time, and I appreciated that. Going to the doctor is never fun. I like my doc and while the new office is further away, I will take that ride up 95.

I have been with Dr Ronald Thomas since before the 2000's when he was originally at Singer Square, now Chadwell Animal Hospital. This man I could tell everything to and he listened and he saved my life 2x finding things I would never known of without his knowledge and imaging requests to get answers. Highly recommend. Worth the money and Best Dr I ever had!

I had seen a PA at this new office who told me I needed like 5 labs to get one thing tested. I knew this because they only tested that one thing in the past with a different doctor. Next I see a doctor who is very helpful with a great bedside manner. He says he will find out if a med is covered by my insurance and never calls. I just tried calling three times to leave a message to be asked to hold each time with an average of 10 minutes before I had to hang up. Get the staff to cover your office if you are that busy!

While I have no complaints with my doctor, the office itself is a nightmare. I have called for four days straight trying to get results of a nerve test I had done. It took three days (and lots of passing the buck) for someone to finally call and say they haven't received the results yet. It isn't even my doctor returning the call so the fact it took that long is ridiculous. I had the test Monday. I am still waiting. No one can give me a direct answer as to have they received the results or not. I didn't realize it was so hard to check a fax machine.

I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas's for 15+ years. He is a kind man who really listens and keeps up with the latest in medicine and doesn't scold his patients if they're doing things that are considered unhealthy. He understands that we're all different and is there to be your doctor not your conscience. That's the best kind of physician, the kind who treats what ails you without sounding omnipotent. I have begged him never to retire because I'll never find a better fit for me. I look forward to seeing him every three months for as long as he'll have me as a patient.

FACT: Doctor's try to stay on schedule but sometimes something serious is going on with a patient that cannot be predicted until that person is seen. I'm sure they would take longer with you if necessary too.
FACT: Most physician's offices charge for late and missed appointments. If you are going to miss your appointment call their office ASAP. It's rude to miss an appointment without calling. And you SHOULD be charged if you come in late and have to reschedule. You're infringing on some other patient's time at that point.
FACT: Most offices charge for copy of records. That takes time to do.
FACT: By LAW if you are on certain meds you need to be seen regularly to monitor them. That means a quick physical and monitoring blood work. You complainers would probably be the first to sue if your doctor gave you meds and something went wrong because they didn't see you for follow-ups.
FACT: Front desks in all professions can get hectic and people can get stressed out. They reception does their best but sometimes it gets crazy. Have some patience. Are you perfect? NO ONE IS.
I have been going to this group for almost 30 years and have never had any problems with them that would make me leave.

Watch out. This practice has recently moved, and seems to be in financial difficulties. An angry office manager type used to present everyone at the former location with a long form we "had" to sign, of punishments for missing or being late for appointments. After the move, she made the punishments more severe! I stood directly to the left in February 2017 as she shouted the entire long page of text of these strictures to an elderly man perhaps in his eighties. I don't know why she did such a thing, but this place is going to be up on charges of elder abuse if they go on like that, and I would gladly testify. The three doctors I know about there are of advanced age and one cannot speak English. Two I saw were an hour late each: apparently the 20-minutes-late-and-you're-out rule applies only to their customers, not to the docs. I suggest people avoid this practice, Medical Health Group at 1415 Rt. 152 in the Joppa area. If you do go, avoid signing any weird forms a scowling, stout blond woman hands you.

Due to a chronic medical condition, I have interfaced with many different doctors/specialists over the last 34 years. Dr. Thomas is by far the BEST physician I have ever had. He is like having a personal friend who happens to be a great doctor! Easy going, knowledgeable, caring, the list goes on. I am very fortunate to have found Dr. Thomas, he has had such a positive influence on my mental and physical well being.

Dr. Thomas is an amazing, caring doctor. He has a very calm demeanor, a heart of gold, and truly listens and hears my concerns.
In reading the negative reviews, they are not related to Dr. Thomas, rather the larger medical office in which his office is housed. I switched to MDVIP when Dr. Thomas switched because his private practice within the larger facility is so much more user friendly.

I have been seeing Dr. Thomas since I moved from California to Maryland in my mid 20s. I am now 49 years old, and he is still kind, nonjudgmental, thorough, and he knows ME as a patient. Yes, he has been difficult to get an appointment with, but I think that speaks to his incredible gift as a physician. There have also been long wait times; I also work in healthcare, and thorough and accurate appointments and records require a longer wait than normal. Since Dr. Thomas joined MDVIP, and I remained "on" as a patient, my wait is minimal, and the communication is stellar. Yes, I do pay yearly for that service, but it is well worth it to have such an intimate professional relationship with my doctor. We all want good doctors, but we in turn need to be good patients, following recommendations and suggestions that they give us. Finally, I see lots of low scores being given for long wait times and less than desirable attitudes from office staff. If this is a review for Dr. Thomas himself, those things should not be a factor. 5 stars for Dr. Thomas!

I came to Dr. Thomas during the height of Covid when most physician offices were not seeing patients in person. I was experiencing multiple health issues and Dr Thomas welcomed me into his practice and treated me IN PERSON. His approach to medical care is sound and he is willing to work with his patients to support his patients goals for medical treatment not to control their medical care. I am equally as impressed with his staff who are professional and compassionate. I have enrolled my spouse as a patient of Dr Thomas as a result!

The fact that this practice terminated a long time employee with breast cancer should say it all! ...Dr. Constantly wanting to schedule follow ups, and does nothing at the appointments. I am most likely Dr. Ron Thomas' longest continuous patient. Dr. Ron was a leading Calvert County graduate who went to medical school and actually returned to this " country" county and set up a private practice. I came to the county in 1972 with my wife and soon became a patient of Dr. Ron's. We became personal friends with him and his lovely wife and then his two sons.
My son and I still drive two hours once a year for annual physicals and more often as necessary. He is not only a superior physician, but a genuinely fine person and a very long standing friend.

This practice is what healthcare should be like. Dr. Thomas is interested in patient health, wellness and preventative care! He takes the time to explain and discuss health issues. He is receptive to questions and considering alternatives in care. The MDVIP program means he gets to spend more than 10minutes with each patient. If you want a physician that is more than just a pill dispenser, this is the practitioner for you.

Hello, I am Dr. TDK I am a patient of Joshua Liu-PA-C. I was seen by him for pain to my right elbow and was referred to a pain management. However, it was over two weeks to have the referrals complete. Neededless to say, I was given a prescription which led me to request prior authorization. I presented to the office at 9am the following morning and was made aware that my paperwork would be faxed over. I contacted my insurance company and was made aware that the paperwork was not submitted. I do believe I called the office 2-3 timed to follow up on status. I requested to speak with the office manager to check the status.
My last call to the office, the office manager made me aware that my pain was not an emergency, for me to shut my mouth and listen, she threathen to discharge me as a patient if I continued to call to check on my paperwork, she stated she spoke with Mr. Liu and he informed her that he was too busy to sign my form and that I was not experiencing an emergency, she also stated she does not know why I am getting the medication and that there is no documentation of why I need the pain medicine and throughtout the conversation she was extremely judgmental, informed me that she was recording my call and hung up the phone on me.
I have been in the healthcare field for over 20 years, I am an APRN with a DNP.I explained to her my clinical background and that I have never experienced a delay in care or lack of emphaty from a health care facility.
The treatment that I received from her was unwarranted. She did state that I was raising my voice, I explained to her that I was in pain and that I was not recieving direct answers and that I was not pleased with my treatment. She said that I was being a bully to the staff members and herself. I informend her that I have been a patient for over 5 years and this is not how I am normally treated.
I beleive that the office is intentionally mistreating me as a patient and not attempting to assist me to resolve my pain issue.
I do want to file a formal compliant in reference to the delay in care and the treatment by the director.

He listens to me and then works to find an answer that is vey helpful and the best response for me. I am very grateful to have found such a wonderful and caring doctor. When he retires he will be hard to replace because he works so very hard to keep my health plan on the right track. He also has such a great bedside manner. Front desk is atrocious, well one person in particular!!!! This girl was combative and condensing, with the maturity to match. There was no sense of care in her demeanor but a sense of entitled arrogance.
Each and every person that walks through that door is in need of a doctor. With that said there should be more care and understanding when interacting with the customer. Debating with the customer is absolutely inexcusable.
Aa for the doctors and nurses, they are amazing!!! Too bad the first encounter leaves a bad image of MHG.
Front desk is in desperate need of training and spot checkers to rate them appropriately. Maybe then they will be respectful and mature.
