About Steven D. Yang, MD

My philosophy as an internist is to develop close, personal and long-term relationships with all my patients and provide a caring and supportive environment for everyone. I strive to serve my patients' diverse needs and to be an advocate for their wellness. I believe that preventive care is key in maintaining and ensuring good health. 

Offering my patients a highly personalized approach to their care is important. My patients also enjoy the benefits of the MDVIP Wellness Program, which includes advanced screenings for bone health, diabetes and heart disease and consultations on nutrition, fitness and more. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time. My Alexandria, Virginia-based primary care practice serves the Northern Virginia (Alexandria, Springfield, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church) and Washington DC metropolitan areas. I am affiliated with INOVA Alexandria Hospital and provide hospital care for my patients who may need such services.

Although I'm in good health generally and have never had to consult with Dr. Yang except for my routine yearly physical, I realized early on that he listened to what little I had to say very carefully. I've enjoyed every minute of my 15 years with Dr. Yang. I've been treated as a VIP since my initial call to ask about how to join his practice. After interviewing Dr. Yang, my first interaction consisted of a two-hour review of my medical history and a complete physical. He was incredibly well prepared and knew things about my history I had forgotten. I was extremely impressed when he apologized that it would take about 48 hours for him to receive my lab results. My previous physician told me "I'll call you if something is wrong." 24 hours later, Dr. Yang spent 20 minutes explaining all of the tests to me and what the results meant. This was just the beginning! I never thought I'd enjoy seeing a doctor, but his office staff presents a true concierge experience. I'm greeted by-name with pleasant conversation. Dr. Yang always asks about how previous treatments are working and remembers ailments from several previous visits. He fully explains treatment options and lets me decide how we proceed. I never run out of medications because I'm asked well in advance if I want to renew. I couldn't be happier with my MDVIP experience.
