Meet Susan Lurie, MD

It has always been my mission to offer individualized care to each patient. I consider it an honor to be chosen as your primary care physician and I aim to offer care to patients with that sentiment in mind. My goal has been and will continue to be to educate about preventive approaches, including diet, exercise, stress management, mental health, and as you get older, cognition, balance, vision, hearing and respiratory and cardiac health. As an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I have more time to partner with you to delve into your medical concerns. We can work as a team and formulate a wellness plan that can help you as you pursue your health goals.

I have been a family physician for 25 years and in Miami Beach, Florida, for 15 years, which has allowed me to build relationships with a wide variety of specialists in the Miami area. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices.

The goal of my primary care practice is to focus on you and how you and I can help make a happier, healthier future your reality. I see patients from greater Miami, including Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Brickell/Downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, Miami Shores, Aventura, North Miami and Hollywood.

I am fluent in Spanish and Russian.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

I have been seeing Dr. Lurie for a few years now and am more than satisfied with her services. On top of being a medical professional, she has successfully trained her staff to be efficient, accommodating and welcoming. The ecosystem in a doctor's office can make or break them regardless of how great the doctor is. Dr. Lurie realizes that it's a team effort that makes her practice a successful one. I also appreciate that Dr. Lurie thoroughly addresses all my concerns. She really is at the top of her profession.

Dr Susan Lurie really helped me later in 2023. It is her care, attention and sympothy that she referred me to the appropriate hospital scans and doctors that a problem was identified. I was able to obtain the necessary surgery and be on the road to healing. My lifestyle has completely changed and I often think of her and her practice. No wonder she's gone into private care, I would otherwise keep her as my primary care doctor. Nurse Emmanuella was also really sympathetic. She understood my concerns and ordered me all the necessary bloodworks, which helped guide me on my road to healing and family planning. Thank you Dr Susan Lurie and Nurse Emmanuella, wishing you well and success.

I’ve been seeing my pcp here for 3 years now, it’s a must to say that almost always I have a bad experience when setting an appointment or any other matter due to how rude some of the front desk employees are. Overall experience with the doctors has been positive, but when it comes to setting an appointment it’s undoubtedly annoying and unpleasant. In a doctor’s office just like any other business the front desk is the face of the place and having somebody that is not nice to talk to is just unbearable. Going to the doctor is not for pleasure but a necessity, therefore all the personnel should be as polite as they can. On another note Zoey from the front desk gave me a good experience helping me with an important matter today.

Update 8.16.24: It has gotten even worse. Dr. Lurie prescribed a medication for me that is not accepted by my insurance company. Consequently, she provided me w/a workaround pharmacy, however, she is not submitting a refill authorization to the workaround pharmacy so I won't be able to continue on that medication. This is a 4th world medical practice -- RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! (0 rating)

What started as an almost too good to be true practice w/a very thorough, caring & engaged physician has devolved into 3rd world practice that is terrible. I had an experience today that borders between medical malpractice & utter incompetence.

They also went paid Concierge w/in a few months of becoming a new patient; typical of MIA practices that weed out the undesirable.

RUN AWAY FOR YOUR LIFE FROM THIS PRACTICE!

Dr Lurie has been the most helpful Dr I've had the privilege of having involved in my children's health. She listens to all of my concerns and doesn't treat me or my children as just another number or insurance check. She's truly one of the best!

I don't understand- the office seems to be well staffed, however, getting someone on the phone - is impossible and they are extremely unhelpful. I called multiple times two different issue 1) a missing prescription and 2) a billing error. They answer the phone, however I am put on hold and then disconnected or put into a voicemail - and they never call back. This is the most frustrating experience I've ever had at a Dr. office or any other place of business.

I can not express how wonderful Dr. Lurie is and would look no further if you are seeking quality care. Dr. Susan Lurie truely cares about long-term patient health and wellness. She takes the time to actually properly care for patients for their individual needs and issues... Dr. Lurie and her staff treat my family as an extension of their own family. We are so fortunate to have found her and her staff for the support we were seeking after moving from the mid-west over ten years ago.

I won’t be visiting dr Lurie again. The administration is essentially non existent. I have called 4 times in the past 2 weeks trying to get a hold of Angie. I’ve never received a call back despite leaving voicemails. They didn’t attempt to bill my insurance so now I have a huge bill despite being told my insurance covers the visit. Zero customer service and no accountability.

I love Dr. Susan and her staff, she’s been my doctor since 2019, the best decision ever. she’s so nice and understanding. I’m never rush, all my questions get answer. She’s very attentive, and helpful every time I have needed help with something she’s as help. And she has a practitioner name Emma and I just love her too, she’s just as helpful as Dr. Susan.

The office staff is horrible specially the billing department. I wrote directly to Dr. Susan Lurie and she told me she would see into a billing error on a preventive care visit that’s 100% covered and never heard of her again. The office never picks up the phone and never returns calls. I’ve been going there for years, not coming back.

Not very friendly. I called to reschedule my appointment and felt extremely rushed, I couldn’t even get a word in before being interrupted to cancel my appointment. My insurance was about to end and they wouldn’t even try and help me figure out a solution. I would not recommend.

The best doctor I’ve ever had. Doesn’t rush you and cares. Even if the wait time may take a little while to be seen, it’s because Dr Lurie or Emma her PN really cares and listens to any issues that you are having. I rather have a doctor office where at times I may wait longer than to have a doctor that rush you and doesn’t care about any issues or concerns that you may have that you didn’t make appointment for. Usually doctors will tell you that you have to make another appointment. Dr Lurie is very empathetic and understanding. I’m glad that she have hired a lot of new staff because they’re much better than the previous. And Angie is great!! She be on it with any referrals that I need. She never lets me down. And the office sends prescriptions right away. If your pharmacy is with CVS and you’re having any problems with CVS saying the doctor didn’t send anything. That’s 1,000% false. It’s CVS. That was proven to me couple weeks ago. I have now changed pharmacies and is very happy. Once again, HANDS DOWN Dr Lurie and Emma are the best ever!! Highly recommend

Really messy and poor organized staff. One day they call you to tell you something, next day someone different calls you to tell you the oppositeof what it was told before. Telemedice calls are always 2 hrs late. This was quite an odyssey.

Both Dr. Susan Lurie and Dr. Alexander Lurie are incredible. Highly intelligent, wonderful bedside manner, and very thorough. They each spend a lot of time ensuring all questions were answered. How unfortunate that I have to write this review. Dr. Lurie and her PA are great and I have had no issue with them as a team. Unfortunately in todays landscape of medical care, your back office team that deals with insurance claims is just as important as the service providers and for that reason alone I would try to warn anyone out there about this office.

Dr. Lurie's administrative team made the mistake of mis-coding a procedure which resulted in us being charged an additional $300 from Quest Diagnostic. Since October my wife has tried to get them to change the code on the billing so that this problem could be resolved to no avail. At this point, my wife is in collections over $300 dollars and all we receive are promises from the office manager and the person who takes our calls. My wife makes multiple calls a week with either no reply or empty promises and at this point we think it may have just turned into a joke at the office. We are now at the point that we are going to pay the $300 and hope that one day in the future the coding can be fixed and then we will need to pick up the fight with Quest for a refund.

In summary, I would say that if you don't need the assistance of this administrative team and pay cash/credit card, Dr. Lurie is great. If for some reason you use insurance and God forbid need their assistance to correct something, you will come to regret going to this office. For Dr. Lurie, I would highly recommend retraining the Claims Person, Jackie Sanchez. She is hurting your business and if she cannot be retrained, it would benefit you to find someone who is more reliable and responsive to your patients.

In the meantime, my wife is going there in person today with a toddler in hand to see if that avenue can work.

Dr.Emma is amazing. I came in December 2023 weighing almost 200lbs, with high blood pressure, my high cholesterol through the roof and just heart broken because I am so young and I shouldnt have these health issues. She really guided me to lose the weight, get my health back in track, and she is thoughtful, and listens to her patients. I had had my fair share of being dismissed by rotten doctors but Dr. Emma is probably the best doctor I've been to. She truly cares and wants the best for her patients. I lost almost 40 pounds and my high blood pressure GONE. ♥️ THANK YOU Dr.Emma!

This will be a short review, but I will follow it up. The reason it’s gonna be short because due to Dr. SUSAN LURIE she did not keep her oath “DO NO HARM”and she has done great harm to me where I go to surgery because of her negligence of one year and seven months, telling her that something was wrong and begging for a scan and a sonogram upper and lower, and when she finally did, she did the upper and my complaints with the lower abdomen, but her staff which are absolutely uncaring, except for one Chloe. and the left arm doesn’t know what the right arm is doing Her turnover Is unbelievable and now she’s gone VIP or concierge but I quickly when I change my insurance I did not need her referral which they denied me because they don’t know the difference between a PPO and I had an Appointment and they still 30 of them or so would not let me see Dr. ALEX which he is fantastic and had me in remission in less than a year, but Dr. SUSAN only gave me 2 to 3 minutes to everyone and then told me about VIP and that’s when she gave me one minute and I kept it all to myself. I already found another doctor which turned out to be the doctor that helped her with her practice when she started, .she sees you 2 to 3 minutes she argues with telling you telling me in her mind, It was constipation and I kept telling her. I would know if it’s constipation there’s something wrong with me. And then I changed with a lot of hassle and begging HUMANA to change my insurance and I got PPO. I had the test and the news is not good but I will keep it a secret but I’ll tell you.Her reputation , I found other doctors doctors three hospitals that I’ve been to since I last saw her. She’s not that good of a doctor and I agreed because she diagnosed me three times.WRONG ! And this time she really she absolutely could’ve helped me a year and seven months and I’m not going to explain for now but
The oath that she took”DO NO HARM “ she did not take it seriously, and she doesn’t practice it and for now because I have other plans regarding Dr. SUSAN LURIE All I say shame on you, Dr. SUSAN LURIE shame on you for seeing your patients 2 to 3 minutes and then telling them wrong information because it was the fastest thing you could do and you’re gonna be VIP,, Good luck to you, Dr. SUSAN you’ll need it after my experience and others because I have done great research after I found out what was wrong with me that you called constipation you were 150% wrong. Let’s make it 200% wrong all you had to do, a scan upper and lower and you did not your horrible staff all of them except for Chloe. Period this will continue but not in this form of a review. I’m gonna go higher than that because I don’t want you to do to other patients, what you’ve done to me and you read this try remembering your oath and most importantly try listening to your patient . They know their body I know mine one year and seven months you did nothing, ignored me. I begged then I got smart, which I am. I had 2 connected brain cells and changed my insurance to PPO where I didn’t need you , in the meantime, I found the best doctor. There is the one that help you to open up your practice. The one you forgot to put his name to forward the patients that cannot afford your VIP status. You forgot to put his name until I went to your office and mentioned it doctor had found the primary doctor had found with the heart with patient with examinations that you don’t do never you just talked for three minutes. The most you gave me when the doctor that helped you start your practice and you typed real fast the letter which I handed to him , I’m not gonna tell you his comment. Just shame on you and remember your osth. “DO NO HARM”.
Oopsie, you forgot that oath try to remember that Dr. SUSAN so you won’t do to others what you have done to me.

I had appointment at 2:00 I was called in exactly at 2:00. Amazing. The nurse, Daniala, very friendly and gentle. The student Dr, Andriana, very nice and attentive. Dr Dianna is an Angel from Heaven. Very professional. Ask questions, listen to my concerns. Physically check me, while informing and explaining. Make you feel very comfortable and home. This is extremely hard to find in Miami. First time patient; could not recommend more. It is always a bit hard to change your PCP due to insurance, etc., so we obviously went in a bit hesitantly. First impression: GREAT office, very open and bright! Second impression: wait time was not bad at all. Third and most importantly: Dr. Susan Lurie! She took her time, listened, and examined thoroughly. She is very sweet, empathetic and we left feeling we finally found our doctor. So, if you are considering meeting her, go. And if by chance you meet someone in the office who is "short", be patient. We all have bad days.

I'm super respectful for the doctors time, don't care to wait a little bit, but here at Susan luries office, they really don't respect your time. EVERY time I or my husband come here, they make me wait for at least 1 hour (usually 1.5). Susan Lurie is great, but the whole experience gives me a bitter taste....

Dr. Lurie's organization can be good and very bad

Quality medical care and administration can be great and very awful

Dr. Lurie is a mediocre administrator and third class MD who after a year knows nothing about my real health and cannot fill a prescription properly

Beware of her referrals. They were generally awful and with miserable reviews. In the end I sourced my own specialist referrals based on reviews. They were much much better

A Truly Exceptional Primary Care Physician

I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Susan Lurie, MD, of Miami Beach. From my very first visit, I knew I had found a truly exceptional primary care physician. Dr. Lurie has a rare combination of deep medical expertise and genuine compassion that instantly puts you at ease. What truly sets her apart is her ability to really listen—she takes the time to understand not just symptoms, but the full picture of your health, lifestyle, and concerns.

What impresses me the most is how skillfully she coordinates every aspect of my care. She has referred me to outstanding specialists when needed, and always ensures that all treatments and recommendations are aligned. It’s incredibly reassuring to know she’s keeping a watchful eye over everything, especially when managing multiple medications and complex health issues.

She doesn’t just treat symptoms—she cares about you as a whole person. Every interaction feels thoughtful and personalized, and she’s never rushed or dismissive. Her follow-through is excellent, and I always feel supported and well-informed after our visits.

Dr. Lurie brings warmth, clarity, and unmatched professionalism to every appointment. I trust her completely with my health, and I’m so grateful to have her as my PCP. If you’re looking for a doctor who’s not only knowledgeable but truly invested in your well-being, Dr. Lurie is the one. She is, without question, one of the best doctors I have ever had the privilege to work with.
