Barbara Ohlert, who works for MDVIP affiliate Dr. Robert Barnes in Clarkston, MI, is an MDVIP Ambassador for going above and beyond the call of duty and making her patients feel welcome, valued and loved.

Ohlert hosts yoga for our patients every Tuesday. She meets with patients on Saturdays for coffee, outside of work, making them feel even more like family. If a patient is too sick to come into the office, Dr. Barnes & Barb go to their home to access the issue. She wheels patients to their vehicle and assists them into the car. It comes naturally to treat our patients like family & Ohlert makes sure they feel that.

In 2015 I followed Dr. Baker and Dr. Barnes to MDVIP. Dr. Barnes and his team including Barb Ohlert, Jackie Acosta and Kailey Herbert are totally supportive and dedicated to their patients and provide extraordinary patient service unlike anything I have experienced before. Barb Ohlert, CMA, takes a personal interest in her patients with heartfelt warmth and kindness. Barb runs the office very efficiently and takes her leadership role very seriously. I always try to treat patients with respect – with consideration for their individual circumstances and experiences. I consider it my job to act as a resource and support for my patients, through positive reinforcement, discussion and education. The medical world has become quite complex and difficult to navigate and it is important to remember that we work for patients (not the other way around), that first and foremost it is important to be advocates for our patients, and that we are on the same team.
