My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

Since I was a child I knew I wanted to be either a teacher or a doctor. Little did I know – as a doctor you are a teacher. A doctor is your health coach, someone who educates on diet, prevention, and nutrition. A doctor motivates you to make lifestyle changes to feel better and stay healthy, makes diagnoses and educates you on your diagnoses and develops a treatment plan. I value my relationship with each patient and want your care to be a true partnership that is patient-centered. To me, that means considering not just the physical body but also understanding the emotional and spiritual being.

As a primary care physician and a hospice doctor, I have been following my passion of taking care of my patients through their life journey - from young adult until the end of life.  My gift from God is that of a caregiver, which to me is a sacred honor. Because of this view, I aim to treat all patients with respect and give them my time and attention to address all of their healthcare needs. MDVIP allows me the time to get to know each patient.  My focus will be maintaining wellness, prevention of chronic illness and coordination of care with other professionals.

My goal as your doctor is to stay clinically relevant, yet push the boundaries of the field of nutrition and alternative medicines. For instance, I recently trained with the Institute of Functional Medicine in the "Reversal of Cognitive Decline" and applications of functional medicine in clinical practice. While there is much more to learn, I am expanding my training to enhance my ability to provide coaching in anti-aging, as well as trying to reverse chronic disease or cognitive issues using a more natural approach.

MDVIP allows me to practice medicine the old-fashioned way. I will know each patient personally and will be able to review all aspects of the clinical care. My role as your coach and advisor will be to optimize your health and keep you out of the hospital. I will help you achieve this goal as I will be available to you when and if you need me. Together, I see a great future ahead of us! It is truly a privilege to be a doctor!

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Christina

from Deborah in TX March 26, 2024 for Melanie Christina, MD, FACP

Dr. Christina is a wellness, guiding light. During a particularly dark time when my dad was in his last few months of life, my physician at the time, suddenly passed away. Due to the stress of caring for my dad, I knew I needed to get a new doctor quickly. As I asked for references from medical staff at the hospital, her name quickly surfaced repeatedly. Thus, I followed those suggestions and… See more

Dr Christina is more then my doctor - she is my trusted doctor. I appreciate so much the level of care, concern, trust and, yes, love I feel from and for her. She is a care-giver in the true sense of the word. Not just caring about my physical well-being but genuinely caring about my whole well-being. I am so grateful to have Dr Christina in my life and as my physician.

from Linda in TX February 19, 2024 for Melanie Christina, MD, FACP

We were with Dr. Christina before MDVIP and had to join when she did. My husband and I have recommended her to all our friends.
We recently had dinner with two couples. My friend told us that she and her husband were at a restaurant the week before and her husband passes out at the table. They went on to tell about how scary it was, an ambulance came, his vitals were steady, end of story… See more

Even before Dr. Christina became part of MDVIP, I never felt rushed or hurried as her patient. She listened and gave practical and wonderful advice. Visits were more like being with a really good friend who was also your doctor. During the past few years during some serious health issues, and a lot of specialists involved in my care, she has always been the one I've turned to for… See more

In one of my yearly exam times Dr. Christina and I got into a conversation about my younger son and our struggles. She was a good listener! Then either at the 6 month mark but I think it was a year later she asked how things were with our son! That meant the world to me that she remembered. It’s a great relationship. I lost her once when she changed to palliative care and was so delighted when… See more

Dr Christina has been wonderful and dramatically improved my health and well being. Over the last year, she has been my coach to lose 40lbs and I cannot be happier. I am now off Blood Pressure meds and have improved many other of my numbers. She cares about all aspects of your life too - always educates you first -on helping me with eating habits, vitamins or using a sensor to monitor blood… See more

The best. Listens, explores, considers the whole person and complex physiological systems. Does not take the easy way out—unless it is the best way according to her experience and assessment.

Dr. Christina has addressed several issues that have vexed me and many wonderful physicians for decades, improving my health in ways that have changed both my daily life and, I suspect, the long… See more
