About Gregory A. Hood MD MACP FRCP

My natural passion for life has always driven me to provide detailed, comprehensive, personal health care to each of my patients. Being able to provide personalized medical care is something I thoroughly enjoy. Affiliating with MDVIP has helped me to preserve and robustly improve the opportunities to plan proactively with you. I promise to use my education, experience, compassion and understanding to build a close and constructive relationship with you. Partnering together, I believe that we can maintain your current health while also helping prevent new problems. My goal is to help you meet your personal goals for your life and your health at every stage of life.

Located in Lexington, Kentucky and affiliated with Baptist Hospital, I’m honored to serve patients who come to see me from across the Commonwealth, as well as from many other states. My staff and I are accustomed to working with “snowbirds”, who winter in warmer climates. My personalized, internal medicine practice allows me to get to know each of my patients and to care for them well beyond their immediate needs. Because of this, when necessary, I am able to coordinate patient care with preferred physician colleagues, whether it be across town or across the country. My MDVIP-affiliated practice, often compared to a concierge medicine practice, also offers conveniences like same- or next-day appointments. In my internal medicine practice, I address the full depth and breadth of adult health, wellness and illness, with particular interest in prevention and wellness as well as cardiovascular health, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, nutrition, orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems.

What our members are saying

So much to say about Dr Gregory Hood. More than a Doctor, Dr Hood has been a friend to my late husband since high school and with God's hand he became our doctor not knowing what the future would have for our family.
Dr Hood's knowledge of medicine and connections with the medical facilities provided my husband with care he needed during the most challenging time of our lives.…

Thank you, Dr. Gegory Hood. Your atttention to our health (my self, my husband, and my mother) has made a big difference in our maintaning a healthy lifestyle. Your quick attention to my thyroid allowed me to receive surgery and not have to do furtherl treatment for the cancer. I also appreciate the attention you give to my 95 year old mother. THANK YOU!

My husband had a stroke and yet failed to even mention anything at all the entire day that this happened. He finally mentioned at dinner that he wasn't seeing right and I then asked what he meant, how did he see me standing in front of him? He then said he could see half of me and the other half was smoky, unclear. I said we need to go to the emergency room immediately. He refused. I then went…

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
