About Jessica Adkins, MD, FACP
My goal as your personal doctor is to partner with you to review your current health and create a personalized plan to help as you work to prevent possible new issues. I understand and celebrate that internal medicine patients have specific medical needs and desire a unique path as they pursue improved health. I will work with you to assist you with making informed decisions.
As a local physician born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California, this community is my passion. My patients are my friends and neighbors, and I value the trust that my patients place in my hands. I especially enjoy taking care of entire families.
In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, you will be treated as if you are a member of my own family in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I aim to help you with my education, experience, compassion and understanding. I offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments with minimal waiting, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.
I am affiliated with Los Robles Regional Medical Center and am active in hospital leadership as voted in by my peers. I am currently the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine and the Chief of Clinical Ethics. I am available to visit you or take care of you at the hospital should you require admission at this facility.

I was a patient of Dr. Adkins and had a physical in October. I was then told that she was becoming a consiege doctor. $3400.00 a year. I said I wouldn't do that and called to have a prescription filled up until Jan.17 because thats the earliest date my new doctor could see me. Her office spokesman said they wouldnt give me enough meds to get me to Jan.17. I wouldn,t recommend this doctor. She gives you about 5 minutes of her time and rushes you out the door. There's better doctors out there. she doesnt even deserve a 1 star!!

This is a crazy story, but I had to write a review. I was looking for a new doctor and came across Dr. Atkins online. I made my first appointment and really liked her. I thought she was very nice, at that visit so I made an appointment for a physical. On my second visit, I was rushing not to be late, and at the bottom of the staircase we almost bumped into each other. I quickly apologized but instead of accepting my apology, she rolled her eyes and continued to make a few comments that I feel were rude. I knew she was the doctor I was meeting so it made me feel even more uncomfortable. I proceeded to go to the office to meet with her and when we started discussing what happened, she said to me “Do you blame me, look how small I am, I almost got ran over!” Which I interpreted as, insinuating that I’m fat (I am maybe 30 pounds over weight) and that she’s tiny. I told her, this is not gonna workout and then she told me I could leave now! I would have thought she would apologize for the incident, but no, she basically told me to leave. This is not the doctor I saw on the first visit. I was shocked!

Dr. Atkins is so compassionate and in tune with family issues and health issues. She went above and beyond to help my husband. She’s fantastic and her colleagues at los Robles hospital. Think she’s a rockstar and I agree.

I’m blown away by the level of care Dr Adkins gives her patients.
Earlier this year, my son (25 yes old) had a very severe sinus infection and his ENT suggested he see a GP for a blood test to find out if there was anytiing else going on. Since my son didn’t have a doctor, we were referred to Dr Jessica Adkins. When I called her office, I was told that he needed to have an “interview” appt with her before she would treat him. We made the appt for the next day, however, he got worse during the night and by morning I felt he needed to go to the ER. I called Dr Adkins’s office to tell them and cancel the appt.
While at the ER, we were told he had sepsis. They gave him IV fluids and a broad spectrum antibiotic and send him back to the waiting room. I got a call while we were waiting from Dr Adkins’s office telling me that we could put her down as his GP.
About an hour later, Dr Adkins showed up at the hospital and got him in an exam room, admitted him to the hospital and ordered tests and imaging to begin immediately. She took charge and made sure he got the care he needed.
I’ve never experienced care from any doctor like this, let alone one we’d never met.
My entire immediate and extended family have switched to seeing her and we are all very glad to be in her care.

review on the office staff or DR ADKINS
Beyond frustrated. Booked an appointment a month or so ago. For some reason had the wrong date in my calendar and showed up a day early I told them I would need to reschedule, so we rescheduled.
I showed up and they had cancelled the appointment. They said they cancelled it because I didn't show up to the original one. I explained what happened and while they said it was their fault that it was cancelled they couldn't see me today.
I said no biggie, I can reschedule. They couldn't reschedule because she is no longer taking me patients. What? Just so confused.

Hands down the best doctor my mom had ever had. She saved her life a few years ago and continues to amaze me with her outstanding care and knowledge of my moms many needs and complications. She’s an amazing doctor and patient advocate

Dr. Adkins is a fantastic doctor. She seems genuinely interested in my health and answers every question in such a professional and caring manner. She even has gone above and beyond and took extra time to research a specific question I asked and followed up with what she had learned. It's important to have a doctor that cares about their patient and I believe you'll find that in Dr. Adkins.

Disorganized and frustrating medical office structure, complete with rude front office. Was seen by Dr Atkinson who was arrogant, cold, and dismissive. I work in the medical field and wouldn’t dream of treating a patient this way, especially with a new diagnosis. Just a number here, sad.

Dr. Adkins is my primary doctor. All my previous doctors made me feel like an assembly line. I wanted a doctor who would be interested in my health, provide yearly check-ups, blood tests, etc. If we don't have our health, everything else is worthless. I am big in being preventative so Dr. Adkins is always 1 step ahead in recommending ways to live a healthier life. Thanks for all your guidance!

I like to see people that update there reviews as it shows history and can help in others choosing if they are going to go somewhere. So I just went back to Dr. Jessica for my well check. Its been really easy to find now that I have been there a few times. I will say that I am not a fan that they are still hard set on masks. I am so use to my other doctors that are like what masks. I have a small fear of not being able to see who is really behind the mask. Anyway Dr, Jessica is so easy to talk to and have a good conversations. I do see a lot of different specialist so she has a lot less to worry about. I give her the download on what has been happing and what the specialist are doing. After a good conversation then she follows up with what we had discuses last time. After that then she does the physical. Its nice that I don't have to get undresses. She also can run EKG which is good for someone that has to have a pre-op visit. I am one that is scared of the doctor and Dr. Jessica just makes my fears go away. After the physical then we talk about the game plan and what is next and what is good to go. Then your on your way. She is always ready for any question even the ones that are weird or embracing. I am so glad that she is my doctor!

After some reflection, I think the common denominator in the general lack of care or each seemingly judgmental reaction / begrudging, apathetic response relates back to an overworked staff, led by a part time physician trying to run a full time practice.
I will try to post more details of my experience this July 2022 later, but want to provide anyone thinking of becoming a patient of Jessica Adkins and trusting their care to her or her staff a fair expectation that ‘care’ is not a priority in this current practice.
This physician (GP) shares space with a very busy urologist office with multiple specialists all supported by non dedicated staff. The result is an incredibly disorganized appointment / new patient process.
The doctor is rushed and dismissive and does not exemplify a physician’s compassion and inquisitive desire to understand and embrace individual healthcare.

Jessica Adkins is phenomenal. I truly cannot say enough good things about her. She not only makes her patients feel comfortable but she really truly listens to her patients and their questions/concerns and takes the time to explain everything. I’ve been going to her for a little over 2 years now and even though my new insurance isn’t contracted, I still am willing to be self pay because she’s that incredible. I’ve recommended her to sooo many people so if you find yourself seeking a primary MD- I cannot recommend her enough!!

First meeting for my elderly mother who needed to change her primary doctor. Dr. Adkins is very informative and personable. She was eager to address all of my mother's ailments starting with the things that are affecting her quality of life. Staff are friendly and patient. Lots to address with mother's health so updates are likely. So far a good experience.

When your primary care doctor retires after treating you and your family for many decades, it can create an apprehensive time, while trying to find a new doctor. Luckily, he left with strong suggestion for his replacement. We feel extremely fortunate that his recommendation was Dr. Jessica Adkins. During our initial consultation, we realized that we would be in very capable hands. Dr. Adkins is more than a highly trained and thorough medical professional. She is also a thoughtful and caring person. These combinations assure that her patients are provided with complete, excellent care. At my first and only appointment, she had an attitude and didn’t seem to be focused on my medical condition or in establishing a doctor/patient relationship. Office did not return calls and important follow -up was not handled properly.
