About J. Rick Adams, MD

My goal as your private physician is to partner with you on a personalized plan for your total health: physical, mental, and spiritual. My expertise as a board certified internal medicine doctor is to diagnose and care for complicated illnesses and provide the medications needed to treat those illnesses. My passion is to find the risk factors for illnesses and help you prevent them before you need medicines and more serious care. As an MDVIP-affiliated primary care physician, I can provide each patient the time, resources, and personalized care needed to achieve their individualized health goals. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.

I have been practicing in my home town of Katy, Texas for more than 15 years. The local hospitals, Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital of Katy, are excellent facilities in which I continue to see my patients every day. My MDVIP-affiliated practice is located in the beautiful facility at the Katy Medical Complex on Kingsland Boulevard.

What our members are saying

After years of cancer treatment medications my body was worn out. I had back and joint pain, shortness of breath, osteoporosis, and was just out of shape. And because I’d had so many strong medications in the past, I was looking to get off or stay off of as many meds as possible. Dr. Adams listened, understood, and helped me find supplements in addition to eating a healthy diet that have brought…

Over two decades ago, I was in an auto accident. It was a serious accident, and luckily no one was injured. The emergency personnel checked me over, including taking my blood pressure. My reading was sky-high. So much so, that they wanted to take me to the hospital. I declined and decided to seek a primary physician. I went to a local medical center and saw one of their in-house doctors.…

Sorry I'm a bit late, but my husband is in home hospice and I've had my hands full lately, as you can imagine. Dr Rick Adams has been my primary care physician for over 20 years and he has also been my husband's PCP for about 10 years now. We are in our 80s and 90s and have had plenty of experience with a lot of good doctors over the years. That fact in itself is a testimony, but Dr Adams is much…

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
