In 2003 I suffered a major medical problem and was referred to Dr Chen. Medically it has been the best thing that has happened to me. Ive had to deal with chronic illnesses and she does a great job triaging my condition and getting me where I need to go. In 2008 I was suffering from foot drop and Dr Chen did blood work that discovered I had Multiple Myeloma. That had nothing to do with the foot drop but her outstanding assessment skills caught it. She gave me a referral to a great oncologist and worked hand in hand with him treating my conditions. My immune system is weak so I get recurrent pneumonia and she, along with my oncologist, and a great pulmonary doctor (she also referred me to) work hand in hand to treat my conditions. Every doctor she has referred me to has been awesome and possess many of the same attributes. I know how lucky I am because doctors Ive experienced in the hospital or ERs dont display that same thoughtful compassion. Im thankful everyday for that referral back in 2003 because I could not ask for a better team leader to handle my medical issues. Im able to text or email her at any time with my medical concerns and she quickly responds to those concerns. She never makes me feel like Im bothering her and she doesnt rush me through my appointment. When I return for follow-ups she is always on top of what we last discussed and I dont have to repeat the same thing over and over. My oncologist recently retired and I never thought about that because hes younger then me. Of course my immediate reaction was I hope Dr Chen doesnt retire because I know I will never find another doctor with the skill, compassion, and bedside manner she possesses.
Her staff members Miranda Parker and Kandace Grimsley are top notch as well. In an age where often times one feels like they are bothering people Dr Chens staff never make one feel that way. I can email them with updates or concerns and they quickly get back with me. The office is always clean and comfortable.
