Retired Golfer Benefits from Same-Day, Unhurried Appointments

Female golfer on course

Meet Cheryl. She’s 82 years old, and she and her husband retired to Aiken, South Carolina, in 1998 to enjoy the golfing amenities and beautiful surroundings.

Cheryl became a patient of Dr. Alyssa Degnan and joined her MDVIP-affiliated practice after attending the patient forum. After listening to how the model works and why Dr. Degnan was transitioning her practice, Cheryl thought that MDVIP sounded like a good thing.

As fate would have it, she soon learned that it really was a good thing. She began experiencing abdominal pain and called Dr. Degnan.

The average waiting time for a primary care appointment is three weeks, but since Dr. Degnan is an MDVIP-affiliated doctor, she was able to see Cheryl right away. This turned out to be very important, as after listening to Cheryl, Dr. Degnan referred her to a specialist, who ordered a CT scan, made a diagnosis and has been following her ever since.

Cheryl lives a healthy lifestyle. She eats healthily, gets good sleep, exercises by going to the gym and golfing, controls stress, and has a good support system in her husband, children and grandchildren. And yet, a chronic health issue still “crept in”. Dr. Degnan’s care, combined with results from Cheryl’s MDVIP Wellness Program, led Dr. Degnan to refer Cheryl to a cardiologist and a pulmonologist to care for chronic conditions.

Cheryl is grateful for her doctor’s unhurried visits, the availability Dr. Degnan offers and for the benefits MDVIP provides, particularly the MDVIP Wellness Program.
