About Esther Guy, MD
I have been an internal medicine physician in the Houston, Texas, area for 25 years. I am conveniently located in Bellaire, in the heart of the Houston area.
My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advance health screening and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in traditional medical practices. Each year, my patients partake in a comprehensive, annual MDVIP Wellness Program, which can help identify certain risk markers. The results of Program’s screenings and tests help provide us with a clearer picture of your health so we can develop a customized care plan that makes sense for each patient as they pursue their health goals.
I offer unhurried office visits that last as long as needed. Because my practice is smaller than a traditional primary care medical practice, it allows for same day or next-day appointments and phone calls answered by a person.
I am excited to have more time to spend with my patients to explore their individual health needs and work with them as they strive to improve their health.

Recently we went to Chile which was so scenic and beautiful. On arrival, we were walking from the terminal to our tour bus pushing our suitcases. There was a 30-40 mile/ hour wind and as I crossed the parking lot, it blew my suitcase over and it knocked me to the ground. Dr. Guy has been my physician for many years. I believe I visited her for the first time not too long after she opened her practice. She has always been very supportive and explained my symptoms and what to do about it. I hope to be her patient for many more years and wish her all the best always.

Several years ago, we signed my 87-year-old mother-in-law up for this concierge practice under the impression that the high annual fee would translate into priority access, attentive care, and a proactive medical relationship. Unfortunately, our experience has been the exact opposite.
Despite paying thousands of dollars out of pocket and not using the service for years, my mother-in-law has recently needed the care after several years of health. She’s consistently made to wait weeks for office visits—and in some cases, months—for appointments. When she wasn’t feeling well recently, I called to request an earlier appointment, thinking that’s exactly what concierge care is meant to provide. We were told there was nothing available. When I followed up again due to worsening symptoms, we were advised to go to urgent care—by the concierge doctor we’re already paying. That is not elevated care; that’s a default safety net for the uninsured.
Worse still, the advice given has felt shockingly tone-deaf. The doctor recently encouraged my 87-year-old mother-in-law to schedule a mammogram, a colonoscopy, and to start aggressively monitoring her sugar due to a PRE-pre-diabetic reading. At her age, this is both unnecessary and inappropriate. Where is the nuance? Where is the personalized care?
This practice has not honored the basic promise of concierge medicine: timely, thoughtful, and individualized care. We expected better—and paid for better—but have only been met with delays, dismissiveness, and boilerplate advice that disregards her age and overall health picture.

Dr. Guy is “a cut above the rest” as someone said in a review. I agree with all the good things that poster said. She is progressive and thorough. She keeps up with her patients ordering annual physicals. She is kind and caring. She is expedient and thorough. Her staff is stellar. I trust Dr. Guy to catch something early so treatment can be started early.

Dr. Guy and her staff are knowledgeable, courteous, professional and a joy to see every year for my annual exam. You are greeted warmly once you walk into their office, and you're treated like a VIP the whole time you're there. There's no other doctor I would rather see for my medical needs than Dr. Guy and her wonderful staff. God bless doctors like Dr. Guy who truly go above and beyond in the care of their patients.

Dr. Guy has been my physician for well over a decade. Over that time, I have aged and have developed some aches and pains that I did not expect. Dr. Guy, however, did and has been on the lookout for conditions tied to the ageing process. As a result, she has stressed the importance of certain lifestyle changes and medications to lessen the negative impact ageing can have on health and well-being. Office visits are easy to schedule and when there, you receive her full attention. She also stresses that one should keep up with specialists for eyes, ears, skin, etc. Dr. Guy recognizes that our entire body should be monitored. She is the first and only primary doctor that I have ever had who inquired about my dental care. She does that because she recognizes how important total health care is.
Dr. Guy's staff is friendly and efficient. They take questions over the phone, and quickly get back to you with an answer. If it is an involved/important matter, Dr. Guy herself will call you. She is an expert diagnostician. If necessary, she sends me to specialists all of whom have been top notch.
I highly recommend Dr. Guy and her practice to any adult in need of a primary care physician.

Dr Guy is/was the worst Dr. I have ever had. She did nothing. Refused to listen to me. Changed my diabetic meds with out consulting my endocrinologist. Within 18 hours I was so ill I had to call 911. She did nothing. Was short and acted like I was lying… Taking me off my metforimin changed to me to Janumet. I was physically ill. The ER Dr had never heard of Janumet. He looked it up— gave me IV fluids and morphine. I called the office Monday again she would not get on the phone. The office gals were giving medical advice. I was sure I was in deep trouble when one of the gals told me she said take the medicine at 1/2 dose! To take that made me violently ill. She has the 2 gals that work there do all her phone. I can hear her in the back I asked to put her on the phone. Neither one of the 2 gals are trained in medical care. They are not PA, LVN’s or RNs, and they are servicing patients. I could go on but I don’t want to give her that much time. I warn you to be careful. Do your due diligence on all medical people.!!

Dr. Guy is a cut above the rest of the pack of general practitioners. She is thorough, expedient, and conscientious that her patients stay up to date on regular annual check ups. She has her plentiful in office tests down to an expedient routine science. She leaves no stone unturned in screening her patients’ health status. Her labs tests and screening exams are spot on for catching things early. She is ruthless with time and kind, gentle and patient with patients. I see her as the new future norm doctors will be compelled to emulate. The days of “aw shux you look healthy don’t worry about it” are being replaced by professional screening. Dr. Guy is the vanguard. Her professionalism and courteousness are stellar. Houston is a progressive city. Medicine is no different in that and Dr. Guy is part of that cutting edge.

Dr. Guy has been my primary care physician for at least 25 years. She is an excellent , caring physician. She spends plenty of time with each patient, and has always been very thorough and accurate in her diagnoses and assessments of my health conditions. Her office staff is friendly and accessible. Dr Guy is an extraordinary physician. In the past 18 months of the pandemic, she has been very accessible, knowledgeable and a comforting presence in the lives of our family during these challenging times. Her guidance with the vaccination programs, included detailing the differences between the three vaccine choices, was very helpful and interesting. Now that we are emerging from the the constant threat of infection, I look forward to getting further guidance from Dr Guy regarding the new variants, and how to best shield ourselves from the risk that these may have on our business, our friends and family, and on the general population.

By Barbara Fitzgerald, I have been seeing Dr. Guy since she joined VIP. I am very happy with her. She is very professional but also very easy to talk to. Dr. Guy is very intelligent and has a very lovely presence. She makes you feel comfortable and takes her time to explain everything in detail. She is never in a rush while speaking during the appointment and always accessible. Her staff is "Out of this World AMAZING!" The phones get answered and voice messages if every left are answered same day. I love this practice and so happy I became a member of MDVIP so I could enjoy having Dr. Guy as my primary care physician.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
