My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

One of the most important concepts I have realized in twenty-eight years of practicing internal medicine is that providing excellent care involves knowing the patient as a person and not solely as a list of medical diagnoses. While I am very well experienced in managing multiple and complex health problems, time limitations in the office have hindered my ability to know the person as well as I can in order to tailor an individual health care plan. There are so many factors which influence one's health. It is important to listen to the patient and work together to achieve optimal health for each person. This approach gets lost when appointments are rushed, too short or too far apart. This is the primary reason I am excited to transition my practice to an MDVIP-affiliated practice; to be able to spend more time with patients and form a strong partnership.

Even though my specialty is internal medicine, I have a strong interest in preventive care, which allows a proactive approach to avoid problems rather than reacting to complications afterwards. This goes hand in hand with my other interest, sports medicine. It is wonderful to live in Colorado where there are so many opportunities to stay active. Personalizing health care is rewarding for both the patient and the physician. As your advocate, I will work diligently to ensure you receive optimum treatment in order to achieve your goals.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Skaggs

from Olivia in CO February 13, 2024 for Jacqueline Skaggs, DO

I have experienced several primary care doctors move away or retire in the last several years. I decided to treat myself to the MDVIP experience going forward. Besides learning more about my overall health with an in-depth wellness check, I was finally able to find someone that understood my wish to find out if a better medication existed for me. Past doctors did not want to adjust or tweak… See more

My story is about Dr. Jacqueline Skaggs. I have been a patient of hers for over 15 years. I was on blood thinners for three small blood clots in my calf due to breaking my foot. I had never been on blood thinners before, and I was scheduled for just 3-6 months. Dr. Skaggs shared that I needed to be careful on blood thinners and that I needed to avoid a fall at all costs. I was visiting a… See more

My doctor, Dr.. Skaggs, is phenomenal. I have been seeing her for 9+ years. She was wonderful at her practice before and she is fabulous being in MDVIP. If I am having any difficulties or needs all I do is call or text and she gives me an answer or works on it until it is accomplished. I have told many that she is like that little terrier puppy that has a bone and will not let it go or… See more

Dr. Skaggs is absolutely the best! She always makes me feel like I’m her only patient. When I need to see her, I can always count on her to get me in quickly. I have needed X-rays in the past and she ALWAYS calls me that night to give results. I had kind of an emergency a couple years ago on the weekend and I was able to contact her with my condition- she talked me through it, got me a couple… See more

Dr Skaggs not only takes care of me so I can physically do my hobbies, she takes a personal interest in them as well. When Dr Skaggs heard I had some of my paintings in my car she took the time to go out to my car to look at them. We talk about my knitting, crocheting, painting and Dr Skaggs quilting. It is e nice she takes an interest in me being a full, rounded , successful person beyond… See more

I recently broke my leg while skiing about a month ago. Dr. Skaggs was (and is) an incredible caring physician. I texted Dr Skaggs during the unfortunate ordeal and she was there to help guide me through what to do. She even called me while I was waiting for CT scan results knowing that it was stressful not knowing what was going to happen.

I am very grateful for the relationship I… See more

Dr. skaggs has given me referrals I have requested over the years. And, recently went and got her textbook to visually show me the body system we were discussing-- to make sure I understood.

from Debby in CO January 19, 2024 for Jacqueline Skaggs, DO

This was my first visit outside of the annual check-up that I went to see Dr. Skaggs. I had this horrible pain all night and I thought maybe I had an ulcer or something worse. Dr. Skaggs felt around my vertabrae and knew immediately what was wrong. She told me an exercise to do with a tennis ball and
I went home and tried it. It totally alleviated my pain and I was so relieved! I knew… See more
