Our goal continues to be your doctor of choice for your full spectrum primary care, understanding and acknowledging that healthcare is a team effort – patient and doctor – and that no one person has all the answers. With patients as the center of their own healthcare, our role is to encourage you to be as healthy as you can be, and get you to the appropriate specialists, when needed. 

As a family practice physician with over 30 years experience and a broad range of interests including geriatrics/older adult medicine and experience in military medicine/occupational medicine as an Air Force Flight Surgeon, serving the greater Southeast Michigan area including Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Washtenaw, Jackson, Monroe, Lenawee, Livingston, and Wayne counties, we provide personalized healthcare. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. I am affiliated with both St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor and The University of Michigan Health System, working closely with their outpatient and inpatient specialists to enhance and improve your care. Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

He is very perceptive and understanding. My wife recently became a patient as well, and she is highly impressed with his understanding of the whole person. I am also impressed with the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff. Appointments are always prompt. I just had my third annual MDVIP health assessment and spent more than an hour with Dr. Edelmann going over everything in detail. If you want a highly skilled family-type physician who also has a specialty in geriatrics, Dr. Edelmann will be an excellent choice.

Dr. Karl Edelmann recommended a friend of mine for a Medical Marijuana card in a Walled Lake Marijuana Dispensary back in November 2016. My friend needed a letter from the doctor for court/judge and the doctor will not do anything about it.....I may be wrong because my friend called the dispensary and they said the doctor is too busy. That was the phone number and address that Dr. Edelmann used in the Medical Marijuana application. I see he is really in Ann Arbor.

I believe if you sign a paper to recommend the medical usage of marijuana, you should stand behind your signature. Now, my friend does not know what to do....

In 1993 my 4-year-old daughter was already a patient of Dr Edelmann so when I had my second child he offered to see him as well. When he was about 5 weeks old he started vomiting after every feeding. I repeatedly visited Dr Edelmann with him because his remedy was to change his formula every time and it wasn't helping.

Finally my husband and I took him to pediatric emergency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after he became noticeably dehydrated and they immediately transferred him to U of M with a diagnosis of pyloric stenosis. He had successful surgery about ten hours later (because he had to be hydrated) by the wonderful late Dr. Teitelbaum. If we had continued to abide by Dr Edelmann's treatment plan our infant son would have died.

A few days after the surgery, Dr Edelmann had the audacity to call our home and ask how our son was doing. If only I had answered the phone that day. He would have gotten read for filth.

Some time later, I found out that he had told his office staff that I was paranoid. Suffice it to say I wish I could leave a zero-star review. I will never forgive or forget the sloppy treatment and sexist attitude received that year from this so-called doctor.

I just left my first appointment at this office, and I can confidently say I will never come back. I wasn’t sure if I was being too critical, but after reading the other reviews, that were congruent with my experience, I can say that the negative reviews on here, are spot on. Dr. Edelman acted as if I was a burden, and rushed me through the visit as fast as possible. He even went to as far as to say “don’t push your luck” when I tried to ask him a brief question about a separate issue not related to this specific appointment. When I asked him to clarify what he meant by that he said “you’re here to discuss moles. If you want to talk about other things make another appointment.” Wow. Never in my life did I feel such a lack of confidence in an entire office staff. All I can say is, do not look past the negative reviews about this office. I highly recommend seeking other options.

In 1993 Dr. Edelmann told one of his staff that my wife was paranoid because our 5 week old infant son wasn't keeping his formula down and she came too many times in his opinion. Each time she would come in to have him rechecked he would change his formula and send her away. Long story short, he had pyloric stenosis and required emergency surgery which was diagnosed immediately by an ER doctor. Dr. Edelmann had the audacity to call our house afterward and ask how our infant was doing. He would have died if we had followed Edelmann's instructions. And again, to add insult to injury, he told his office staff that my wife was just being paranoid. We will never forget the negligence of Dr. Edelmann.

Many of the reviews are not fair. I see reviews that complain about the membership fee to MDVIP. The membership costs $1800 per year and it includes a comprehensive physical exam every year. Before Dr. Edlemann joined MDVIP, you would have to wait weeks to see him, like most typical Doctors. Now i can come in same day or next day for any reason. I can spend up to a full hour with him and and never feel rushed. Once you enter the office, your taken to your room and Dr. Edelmann is there in a minute or less. Its true health care just like many years before. I see bad reviews because people are complaining about the MDVIP annual membership. They are complaining because they most likely can not afford the membership fee. I praise Dr. Edelmann for making the choice to switch to MDVIP. Dr. Edelmann has made the choice to offer true medical care. For others to leave bad reviews just because they can not afford the expense to join is not a valid review in my opinion. So if you are not financially secure you may not want this Dr. I can understand that, but to leave a bad review because of that is somewhat malice. below is my original review.

I have been going to this Doctor for over 20 years and never had a single issue. No billing problems ever, Dr Eddleman is very kind, they get you in very fast, the office is always clean and everyone is working hard.

Some of these other peoples reviews in no way reflect an accurate description of how this Doctors office truly is.

My stress test was scheduled for the end of August. Kari and the doctor agreed it needed to be sooner. Kari was relentless. In getting it scheduled sooner, which happened to be the same day I had my heart attack - while I was getting this stress test. I am grateful.

The practice has always been efficient and effective, delivering compassionate care that took care of current needs, as well as helping me and my family to avoid new health problems before they arose. Since he adopted the MDVIP program, Dr. Edelmann has been able invest even more time to each patient visit and preventative care. Dr Edelman has been my doctor for around 30 years or so. I spent my first 30 years struggling with the severe symptoms related to multiple sclerosis. Have known Dr Edelmann almost 30 years. He has shared the good and bad times the worst being the passing of my wife 10 years ago. He has always kept on top of all medical issues and knows when to recommend a specialist. Our plan is for me to live to 100. It will be a sad day when I lose his expertise and also his friendship.
