About Barbara Kevish Saltrelli, MD
As a dedicated personal family physician, my mission has always been to provide compassionate, comprehensive and personalized healthcare to each patient. I strive to foster a trusting and respectful relationship, aiming to ensure that every individual can feel heard, valued and more empowered in their health journey.
Over the past 25 years, I have come to believe that the current U.S. healthcare system appears to promote high volume, low-value care over care that could result in high patient satisfaction as well as better health outcomes. Through continuous education and the integration of the latest medical advancements, I am committed to delivering more individualized care, promoting wellness and supporting patients as they work to improve their quality of life. My goal is to be a reliable partner in health, offering support and guidance with empathy and professionalism. The longitudinal personal relationships I am able to develop with my patients provides me with great professional and personal satisfaction.
My MDVIP-affiliated practice focuses on wellness with emphasis placed on disease prevention and lifestyle habits that can result in better health and wellness. My practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. The annual MDVIP Wellness Program I offer comprises advanced screenings and tests that can help identify certain risk markers.
I have many special interests that include women’s health, the role of exercise and nutrition in health, as well as a commitment to listening to my patients and helping address their concerns, big and small. My practice is conveniently located on the north end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and I serve patients on the island as well as the surrounding Bluffton and Lowcountry marks.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (go Steelers!). Prior to moving to South Carolina, I practiced with UPMC health system and taught medical students and residents. I also held leadership positions on the provider side and within the insurance services division. These experiences helped inform my belief that health and well-being begin with a stronger relationship between primary care doctor and patient.
Our family spent so much time over the years on Hilton Head Island, SC, that we decided to relocate here. My husband and I have two grown children of whom we are very proud. Our hobbies include golf, boating and biking.
My passion is patient care, and I believe in the opportunity to practice medicine in the personalized manner offered in the MDVIP model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
