Meet Boyan Georgiev, MD

My passion as an internal medicine physician is to be your personal doctor and provide compassionate, individualized care with an emphasis on preventive care. I can also discuss care options for potential or existing chronic conditions with a goal of helping you pursue healthier living and quality aging.

My goal as a primary care doctor, based on your family and personal health history with the help of the results from screenings and tests in the MDVIP Wellness Program, is to provide you with a personalized healthcare plan. By providing you with continuing education and keeping closer contact, I can help empower you to take more control of your health. I can be your guide and discuss evidence-based practices to help you work toward improved wellness.

I have special interests in heart diseases, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, thyroid disorders, respiratory and digestive system conditions.

My primary care practice serves Wilmington, NC, southeast North Carolina, New Hanover County, Brunswick County, Pender County and Onslow County. I frequently see patients from Whiteville, Jacksonville and Elizabeth Town, NC.

My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. I offer conveniences including same-day or next-day appointments

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

I spent 5 minutes in his office for a VA screening and he only told me that I did not have something that was diagnosed 35 years ago. No screening of any kind was performed and he just asked a few questions and stated "That's all". Very unfortunate that he represents the VA and the military. He might be a great Doctor but he does not represent the VA process well.

Horrible. He diagnosed my mom with Alzheimer’s disease based on seeing some memory changes and confusion. She was put on a medication for Alzheimer’s disease based on his non-assessment. I asked him about testing and seeing a neurologist. His patronizing response was “that’s for you”-meaning it would just be to comfort me. I said I wanted the referral. He did one for a PET scan and one for neurology. The PET scan was clear. The neurologist then said she does not have Alzheimer’s and was horrified by the lack of appropriate diagnoses, that she was even sent for this PET scan (way overkill), and also at the medications she was on. Georgiev did a similar thing when she started having headaches. No evaluation or testing. He just decides it’s because of her blood pressure. He tries three different blood pressure meds in a period of 4-5 weeks. He changes it over the phone without seeing her. No changes to her headaches. Both the meds he had her on can contribute to headaches. Her neurologist and her new primary care both felt that she was significantly over and mis-medicated. He also misrepresented the MEDVip program to her face. Her new primary care is lovely-she has taken her off of four medications and is actually using SCIENCE to figure out what is going on. Instead of you know, just guessing and throwing medications at her. This dude is a joke but it’s not funny. So glad she was actually evaluated for Alzheimer’s—even though it was “just for me”.

Dr. Georgiev has been my primary care doctor since he came to Wilmington. He has always given me as much tine as needed to discuss my concerns and offer solutions....be it tests and/or meds. I never felt I was just a computer number. His personality shows that caring for his patient's well being is his calling as a physician.

I seriously urge you not to go to this doctor. I have many health issues. He did not listen to me and treated everything like I was exaggerating or crazy. In 2 months he diagnosed me wrong twice. Put me on drugs that made me incredibly sick. He insulted me and made me feel as if I could not trust him AT ALL. very sadly disappointed. Maybe if you are healthy and just need a doctor for a cold He would be good.

I went for a routine checkup. I selected Dr.Georgiev because he was accepting new patients at the time. Dr.Georgiev and his staff were kind. However, his examination felt like it was missing something. I'm not sure what. I also got charged for an "emotional assessment". It did not seem like Dr.Georgiev performed that. I also asked about back pain I was having. After a quick 30 second look and a referral, I was charged $80.

If you’re looking for a Dr. that utilizes medical testing to help you diagnose or rule out diagnoses then you will appreciate Dr. Boyan Georgiev. His nurses have always been very good. His front desk team will get you in for an emergency appointment if at anyway possible. They aren’t perfect but they really helped me in the care of my father through his last years fighting dementia. I use Dr Georgiev as well for a lot of my primary care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Georgiev for 26 years. He is the finest diagnostician of any doctor I have ever known. He takes time to listen to his patients, and is compassionate and knowledgeable. Being a sole practitioner has been a great advantage in that he knows all about me and my medical needs. He cared for my late husband for 19 years, and literally saved his life when other specialists misdiagnosed him with a stomach problem, which actually was a heart problem needing 2 stints!! The only reason I am not continuing as a patient is that I am moving to Georgia - I wish I could clone him!!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. I visited this office with the hope of being seen for an issue that required a referral. I understood that I needed to come in for an in-person visit, and I was more than willing to do so.

However, once I was in the exam room, the doctor pulled up my medical history and began raising his voice, accusing me of “doctor shopping” and making inappropriate assumptions about my intentions as a patient. He repeatedly brought up previous prescriptions all of which were antibiotics and insinuated that I was seeking drugs, which was not only incorrect but extremely unprofessional and offensive.

Rather than offering support or guidance, he continued to speak to me in an aggressive and condescending tone, ultimately suggesting that I seek care elsewhere. He also began pitching his new practice, which costs $2,500 a year, in a way that felt dismissive and presumptive about my financial situation.

The entire interaction left me feeling humiliated and disrespected. I went in looking for medical care and left feeling judged and unheard. No patient should be treated this way, especially when seeking help for a legitimate concern. I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for compassionate or respectful care.

Dr. Georgiev is thorough and takes the time to find out the issue and not just treat symptoms. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Georgiev’s for over 8 years.

I have been to see Dr. Georgiev twice now for exams. He has been polite and professional both times. I am in constant pain from old military injuries, and he has treated me with kindness, patience, and respect during both visits. Most military C&P examiners treat you like a piece of crap, not Dr. Georgiev. He took the time to recommend surgery and warned me of the consequences for not doing it. I have never had a C&P examiner treat me like a human and actually express an interest in helping me.

I was scheduled by the VA & Logistics Health incorporated to see this guy for a VA Claim Examination appointment concerning my left and right knees... He seemed polite, but I noticed he didn't ask any questions, didn't write anything down, didn't order any X-rays, didn't annotate anything on his laptop... I spent more time in this man's Lobby waiting to be seen than I actually did in a room with him. Long story short, I saw this guy LAST YEAR and he is INTENTIONALLY holding up my VA compensation claim from reaching a point of decision or approval. No consideration or concern for a vet who honorably served. He does not need to be seeing or dealing with any vets Examination for VA claims at all. I never done anything to this man, but he's purposefully halting my VA rating decision.

We just went through a very upsetting moment due to the unprofessional behaviorof Dr G. We have been going to his practice for over 6 years that my wife, my mom, and myself. All this time we were very satisfied with his service. Now this past Feb my mom and myself went for our 6 month check up during which he gave us the news that he was changing his practice to a VIP type and the cost would be $2500 a year per person. Being all retired on SS and fixed income this was impossible for us so we had the task after so many years to find another practice. In the meantime we were under the impression that our meds would be covered for 6 months as usual. On Friday May 9th my mom called CVS to have a med filled and was told that Dr G would not approve it because she was no longer a patient of his. We had not received this info from his office and it is May not June when he was converting. My 94 year old mother got so upset not knowing how she was going to get her med that her BP spiked and left her so weak so couldn't stand. This caused us to take her to the ER until her BP lowered and she felt better. This should have never happened if he would have kept our meds on the schedule we were on. Luckily the new practice has since seen her and will fill her meds. I am still in shock as to why he did this and very angry. I hope this is not happening to other patients that could not afford to stay with him.
