About Carl B. Anders, MD
For more than three decades, it has been my privilege to care for patients and their families in the Traverse City, Michigan, community. My professional career has included 15 years in solo internal medicine practice, followed by more than 15 years in both small and large primary care groups, as well as extensive inpatient experience at Munson Medical Center.
Throughout my years in medicine, I have witnessed remarkable advances in medical science and technology that I think have revolutionized our understanding of disease and how patients can work to improve health outcomes and longevity. Despite these innovations, I believe the practice of medicine remains a deeply personal endeavor. The foundation of individualized patient care is a strong physician-patient relationship, built upon empathy, attentive listening, compassionate communication and the creation of a nurturing, trusting medical home for every member.
As we grow older, our medical needs often become more complex, and the healthcare journey can feel overwhelming. I believe my responsibilities extend beyond helping patients address illness. They include educating patients, guiding them through difficult decisions and serving as a trusted partner and coach as they work to preserve their health and well-being. My goal has always been to create a welcoming, compassionate environment where patients feel known as individuals, heard without judgment and supported throughout every stage of life.
I am especially excited about my affiliation with MDVIP, whose practice model reflects these same values. By allowing more time with each patient, emphasizing personalized preventive care, comprehensive wellness planning and advanced screening and diagnostic testing through the annual MDVIP Wellness Program, I can provide the individualized, relationship-centered care that has continually defined my approach to medicine. This model allows me to combine decades of clinical experience with greater availability and compassion—qualities that I believe every patient deserves.
Service to the medical community has been an important part of my career. Early on, I recognized the transformative potential of electronic medical records and was actively involved in developing and implementing EMR systems well before they became the standard of care, with the goal of improving patient care and reducing medical errors. I have had the honor of serving as Treasurer of the Munson Medical Center Medical Staff, Chair and President of the Medical Executive Committee, a member of the Munson Healthcare Board of Directors, and currently as Chair of the Provider Wellbeing Committee. I also served for many years on the boards of the Northern Physician Organization and Novello Physicians Organization, contributing to initiatives that could strengthen physician engagement and enhance the delivery of healthcare throughout our region.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
