My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My goal is to help all patients achieve their health goals through individualized care and attention. As a primary care physician, I believe in emphasizing wellness to protect you from preventable diseases and keep you as healthy as possible by proactively concentrating on all areas of your health. I believe in treating a patient as a whole person instead of focusing only on symptoms or disease. By approaching internal medicine in this fashion and listening to each patient’s life experiences, I am better able to deliver quality services and effective treatments. The MDVIP Wellness Program offers me a myriad of tools and resources to help you achieve your health goals, including advanced screenings and tests emphasizing cardiovascular health, diabetes prevention, sleep, nutrition, fitness and emotional well-being.

No one should have to manage illness alone. By being a part of my personalized healthcare practice, you and I will nurture a close relationship. You will have unrushed appointments, I will be available whenever you need me, and I'll have time to coordinate necessary care with specialists. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

I am affiliated with Reston Hospital Center and serve communities in Reston, Herndon, and surrounding areas of Virginia, including Fairfax, Vienna, Oakton, Sterling and Great Falls. I am a Washingtonian Top Doc and a Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doc. I am fluent in English and Chinese.

Shortly after joining the practice, I was shocked to find out that I had a cancerous tumor on my kidney and required immediate surgery. Dr. Hong and his team supported me and my whole family....so that we never felt alone as we navigated this scary process! On November 19th last year I went to the office of Dr. Hong and NP Julie Suggs because I was short of breath. Julie examined me and saw some warning signs that things were not right. She sent me right across the street to have tests at Reston Hospital. I was admitted later that day with bilateral pulmonary embolism. Dr. Hong came to the hospital while I was still in the ER, called in the… See more

Literally. He took the time to review a long report on a test he didn't even order. He did so as my doctor. He spotted what no other doctor did: slightly swollen lymph nodes in a CT-scan of my chest, checking for heart issues. He immediately had me do a slew of tests. When the mammogram came back normal, he kept going. The verdict: Stage 2B breast cancer. I am forever grateful.

from Gubbi in VA March 7, 2018 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

Dr. Hong is truly a gentleman and a highly qualified medical professional. He spends as much time as needed to explain everything. His interaction with me shows the eastern hospitality and gentleness. When Dr. Medoff retired I was worried about who will take care of us. We were blessed with Dr. Hong and our minds are at peace. Thank you Dr. Hong.

from Thomas in VA March 1, 2018 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

Dr. Chun Hong and his staff, especially Jamie, have been available quickly whenever I've needed them. The wellness exams are complete, with good advice about vitamins.

The most important help was when I developed a MRCA type infection in my leg from the removal of a basal cell carcinoma by a dermatologist. The treatment with two successive antibiotics finally worked.
