Don M. Delwood, MD

It took me a while but I finally found my doctor 13 years after we’d relocated from across the state. With overlapping diagnoses and “complications to my complications,” I am so happy to be Dr Don Delwood’s patient and grateful for his staff’s patience with me. Dr Delwood tolerates my perspective, insights and many questions and has really researched my medical background. He setup much needed procedures and helped me understand the surprises those produced. He doesn’t fly or flail at me, he’s inquisitive yet patient and constructively instructive, which I deeply appreciate. I look forward to my appointments having learned that those are his meetings. I reserve my insights and questions until the end rather than leaping about like my appointment is my meeting not his! I learn much by listening. I’d found trusting in giant systems to be unwise so being able to trust Dr Delwood is wonderful. He’s done testing that has revealed some concerns never even wondered about much less explored. I’ve been on some medications for over 40 years, told there can never be any changes in existing immunos yet he has made changes in dosing or blood pressure and cholesterol prescriptions that are more agreeable yet provide much better results. He keeps me in the loop of dietary opportunities via MDVIP’s substantial online references. I’m a much more aware person thanks to Dr Delwood. After having been in a system of specialists who come and go, who are available then not, I’m relieved to have a doctor who will be serving his patients until he retires… I hope. In spite of new diagnoses and new definitions on conditions I already had I am much calmer about my care than I have been able to be in a long, long time. After over 55 years of hypervigilance. As a former teacher, the gift of gratitude carried me a "long way" some days, so "here goes", Dr. Delwood---------Thank you for giving me encouragement after my heart surgery at the age of 42, when I felt like an active life had to probably be over for me in the short term, for helping me realize that there was a future for me, and continually encouraging me along the way, for graciously accepting my 9:00 calls at night because of water-soaked medicine that you had to re-prescribe when I was out of town, and the "after 9:00 call" when I was throwing up with miralax-infused Gatorade before a colonoscopy. I would not have "jumped off the end of the diving board" had you not given me some tips to finish that lovely drink. Thanks for all that you do and continue to do.

My doctor (Donald Delwood in Columbia, MO) has amazed me with his willingness to help. I am 88 years old, have difficulty walking, and live in a senior living facility. But when it is possible, Dr. Delwood makes house calls to my apartment because he knows it is a lot of work for me to get myself to his office. I have never heard of another doctor in this day and age who would make house calls. I am very grateful.

Last March, on a Sunday afternoon, at 3:30, I realized I was VERY sick and probably had to be hospitalized or I might not make it through the night. I called my doctor, he answered on the second ring and made arrangements for me to go to the local ER and get treated right away. I feel so grateful that, literally, a few weeks before, I had the sense to sign up for MDVIP and Dr. Delwood. He is so responsive and listens to me closely.
