About Erin E. Royal, MD
As a family medicine physician, I believe a strong patient-physician relationship, built on trust and mutual understanding, is fundamental to good health. I enjoy getting to know my patients well, helping them feel comfortable and heard, and caring for them as I would want my own family members to be cared for.
My approach to primary care centers on meeting patients where they are and tailoring care to their individual needs, priorities and goals. I believe personalized healthcare and preventive medicine are most effective when patients have a physician who knows them as a person, not simply as a diagnosis.
My clinical interests include women’s health, lifestyle medicine and behavioral health, with an emphasis on helping patients make meaningful, sustainable choices that support their long-term health and well-being.
I was born and raised in the Lewes-Rehoboth community, and now that I’m practicing primary care here, I am proud to provide personalized healthcare to my neighbors throughout Sussex County. My practice also offers concierge-like conveniences, such as same- or next-day appointments that start on time and are unhurried.
My medical training has allowed me to care for patients in both large cities and smaller communities, experiences that continue to shape how I practice medicine. Before joining an MDVIP-affiliated practice, I practiced at a hospital-based primary care practice.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active with my family and dogs and taking advantage of the many opportunities our coastal community provides for an active, healthy lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
