About Evan Garrett, DO

I’ve always believed that dedicated family physicians become part of the story of a community.

Growing up in a small town in rural Oklahoma, I watched my father serve as the community’s only dentist. He taught me that the greatest privilege in healthcare isn’t simply helping patients in addressing illness—it’s earning the trust to care for people through every stage of life. That experience inspired the kind of physician I strive to be.

I believe personalized medicine begins with seeing each patient as a whole person, not just an illness or condition. In my opinion, health is shaped by much more than medications and lab results. Lifestyle, relationships, mindset and purpose all play an important role in overall well-being, and my goal is to help patients not only as they work to overcome illness but also as they pursue living healthier, fuller lives.

One of the things I love most about family medicine is that there are very few conversations that don’t belong in my office. Whether it’s a new medical concern, discussing how a patient can work toward managing a chronic condition or improve overall health, or navigating life’s challenges, I want my patients to feel they have a physician who will listen, guide and partner with them.

That philosophy is also why I chose the MDVIP practice model. Meaningful relationships take time, and individualized care requires a doctor’s greater availability. By offering the annual MDVIP Wellness Program or conveniences such as same-day and next-day appointments and longer visits, I can spend more time listening, focusing on prevention and partnering with my patients in a way that reflects the kind of physician I’ve always wanted to be.

I don’t measure success by how many illnesses I can help patients address, but by how many people I support as they pursue living healthier, fuller and more meaningful lives. If my patients leave feeling heard, respected and genuinely cared for, then I feel I’ve accomplished what I set out to do as their physician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
