About Franz Sewchand, MD
As an Ascension Medical Group doctor, I provide compassionate, personalized care. I believe healthier living requires more than tending to an illness or simply focusing on acute care needs. In my practice, I focus on preventive care and wellness. I believe in a holistic assessment of a patient’s health and lifestyle with a goal of helping as they work to pursue improved vitality. I believe in a collaborative approach, creating a partnership with my patients to review their specific health goals.
I was born and raised in Baltimore and have been a primary care physician in Catonsville for more than 20 years. I have privileges at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital and have served many years on the Quality Committee, helping contribute to improved healthcare for our community. I have interests in hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders and preventive care.
My practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. Also, my practice offers same- or next-day appointments. I see patients from Catonsville, Ellicott City, Columbia and Pikesville.

The single bad experience in 12 years as a patient, I was aggressively ushered to a MDVIP recruiter, even after I informed the doctor that I evaluated the superfluous email and letters sent to me about the plan and would not provide anything but a cash drain to me.
When I explained that to the recruiter, she became rude and insisted on telling me why I’m wrong to not join!
The plan would cost me much more than I need. I just need quarterly checkups and continuity of prescriptions. On top of that , she ignored me and was typing on her computer. After a few minutes, I asked if we were done and she said yes. No courtesy there, I’m sure that was on purpose.
It is always a pleasure to be a patient in this well managed, caring practice.
Dr Sewchand listened about my sinus congestion, checked me over, also tested me for Covid(which was negative). I received a prescription for an antibiotic and a suggestion to purchase a netipot.
Hopefully I will soon be better.
