Frederic S. Becker, MD

It always a pleasure to go to Dr. Becker's office, even when you’re not feeling well! I’ve always felt he had all the time just for me. He always ask about my personal life, make sure everything’s ok with my family. And Dr. Becker always follows up with a call or text to check in to make sure the treatment he prescribed is working well. Like I said “You are the best, Dr. Becker!”

SINCE I AM LIMITED IN MY ABILITY TO WALK, DR. BECKER HAS MADE NUMEROUS “HOUSE CALLS.” HE CHECKS VITALS, DRAWS BLOOD, ETC. IN MY HOME. (AS AN ASIDE, MY DOG ALWAYS LOOKS FORWARD TO HIS VISITS...HE KNOWS EXACTLY HOW TO GREET HER…). HE PERSONALLY CALLS WITH ALL TEST REULTS AND FOLLOW-UP INFORMATION; IN ADDITION, HE RECEIVES ALL INFORMATION FROM OTHER PHYSICIANS, INTEGRATES THEIR RESULTS INTO MY FILES…AND HIS “RECALL” WHENEVER WE TALK.

FROM HOUSE CALLS TO HIS CALM DEMEANER (GENERALLY CALLED “BEDSIDE MANNER” FIGURATIVELY), TO HIS PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE, DR. BECKER IS THE GREATEST!

This is not so much a story as an opportunity to recognize my Internist, Dr. Frederick Becker, MD...Dr. Becker is the most genuine doctor I know and have met to date...I have met more doctors throughout my career then I can count as I was in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 30 years...when meeting docs throughout my career I always asked myself, would I want this doctor to be my personal physician??? During my tenure I have answered this question with only a handful of providers. Dr Becker is by far the "best of the best"...what means the most to me about Dr. Becker is that whenever I see him he always takes a genuine interest in me as a person and as a patient. Our genuine conversations about me, my family and my health continually remind me of what a special doctor he is...I have my brother to thank for recommending Dr. Becker to me because of the genuine and trusting physician/patient relationship that he has formulated with Dr. Becker. My brother also shared with me something about Dr. Becker and his wife Lauren (Dr. Becker's Office Manager) that touched me so very deeply...Dr. Becker and Lauren invite patients (who would otherwise be alone for the holiday) to their home for Thanksgiving. Not sure I have ever heard of a physician so genuine and caring to invite patients to their home for any reason but to share in a holiday like Thanksgiving which requires so much preparation is so very admirable. It is my understanding that not only do they (Dr. Becker and Lauren) open their home but Dr. Becker also cooks up some of his favorite dishes for them to enjoy. On a personal note, while a patient of Dr. Becker, I am enjoying a healthier lifestyle. I have lost weight, my blood pressure is controlled while taking less medication, I am sleeping better due to experiencing less nocturnal pain and my very challenging "restless leg syndrome" is under control. Everyone should be so lucky to have a caring physician like Dr. Becker as their primary provider. 

Two years ago I suffered from arthritis. Joints all over my body became so stiff and painful that I was nearly incapacitated. All my life I have been extremely active, both in my work life and leisure time. Nothing had ever slowed me down before, but suddenly I needed assistance just to put on my socks. To make matters worse, the doctors I was seeing had no explanation for my symptoms and gave me little insight into if or when my symptoms would improve.

That is when I was blessed to become a patient of Dr. Fred Becker. Dr. Becker listened to my story like none of the doctors had before. He didn’t have an immediate answer, but in the days after I left his office, I received messages about research he was doing and information he was gathering from other physicians he had reached out to. Over the next several weeks, he got me established with a specialist in rheumatology and started on a medication regimen that began to ease my symptoms.

All of those efforts were invaluable, but I think the greatest service that Dr. Becker provided was the sage advice to live in the moment. When I told him how anxious I was that my symptoms would impact many plans I had for the future, including hoping to build a home entirely on my own, he reminded me to focus on the present and the rest would follow. When I asked him what the chances were that I would regain my health and be able to accomplish the many goals I had planned, he reminded me that I needed to set my sights on improving my health bit by bit, one day at a time.

I took that advice to heart and tried to concentrate each day on being thankful for the things I was able to do, instead of feeling frustrated about things I wasn’t able to do. Over the course of the next year and a half, I regained my health and have been weaned off all medications. Dr. Becker’s medical and scientific expertise was a huge part in that success, but I believe that his bed side manner and personal support were just as important in my recovery - if not more. I am truly grateful for his amazing care.
