About Gabriela W. Bowers, MD
I have always loved the very personal connection I make with my patients as a primary care physician. I view my interactions to be conversations, and often share my own healthcare successes and experiences with my patients. I feel that when you really know someone you can help them in a far more meaningful way. In an era when healthcare is segmented into brief interactions by multiple “providers”, the MDVIP model allows me to continue having productive long-term relationships to help my patients help themselves. I always prefer to use medication as a last resort and look at lifestyle alternatives first. The preventive focus of MDVIP gives me the tools to continue to guide and encourage patients towards a healthier lifestyle. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time.
As a long-time New Jersey resident, I have seen the changes to healthcare and want to be a part of the solution. I think that for many people, personalized healthcare is that solution. While the main focus of my practice is prevention, as an internal medicine physician I often treat a wide variety of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac disease, as well as digestive disease, COPD and women’s health issues in menopause. As a physician on staff at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center and a volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical school, I work with many specialists located in the Princeton, Cranbury, West Windsor, Plainsboro, East Windsor and Monroe Township areas. By allowing me to focus on quality instead of quantity interactions with patients, MDVIP allows me to blend “old fashioned medicine” with new technologies, bringing a new level of care to patients. The motto we chose when we opened our practice in 2004 was “Medicine, the way it should be.” I truly believe that MDVIP is exactly that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
