Dr. Beato's skill, care, and concern continue to amaze me. Over the years he has treated me for a variety of things, including a broken bone, blood clots, heart disease, hypertension, etc. He is there when I need him and seems always to have time to discuss treatment and possible alternatives when appropriate. I attribute my good condition at 83 to his care.

Just before I went on vacation last summer, I got a nasty laceration on the top of my ankle that was sutured on Saturday at a walk-in clinic. Ten days later on the other side of the continent, the sutures were removed and despite my having taken a prescribed antibiotic, the wound became infected. When I texted him a photo, Dr. Beato faxed an order for a more suitable antibiotic to a pharmacy where I was staying, but by the time I returned home, the infection had worsened. Dr. Beato then personally contacted a local surgeon, who reopened the wound and performed follow-up treatments. In about a month, the wound healed. It was a painful and frightening experience that would have been much worse if Dr. Beato had not responded quickly and helpfully. I'm always grateful for his routine care and for this particular emergency attention.

I was given a medication new to me for a medical condition that should have been a normal issue to clear up.
Since I have to be special, I had an adverse reaction to the medication and became very sick for several days. I wound up in the hospital with severe dehydration and kidney issues.
I texted Doc on my way to the hospital and he was in contact with them from the minute I arrived and on top of my condition.
Once I was admitted he took over my care and I firmly believe it made all the difference in my recovery. He knew me and my history and guided my treatment in the best possible way.
He was there every morning and kept me up to date on my condition and progress.
He made a difference then as he does every day for me as his patient.
Since I started seeing him a few years ago my Diabetes has improved under his guidance and care!
To say he is my medical hero is just putting it mildly, his care means everything!!

I am a golfer. My Dr. Beato is also a golfer. This story starts at Pinehurst, I was playing golf with my wife and another couple. I was climbing out of a bunker and on my way to the green it felt like I twisted my leg a little. I didn’t think much of it and we played on.

The next day my leg swelled up. I had no idea what was going on. We traveled back to our house in Blacksburg the swelling was not going away. The next day I woke up and the leg was enormous. Of course it was a weekend. I contacted my Dr. office and they wanted me to come in on Monday. I saw Dr. Beato and wowed him with the enormous swelling. He removed some blood to test for various possible causes, including Lyme disease. The testing takes time so he prescribed two types of medication. Later that week the test results came back, Lyme disease symptoms. That day he drove to my house with the Lyme disease drug in hand. Results— no side effects and no longer Lyme Disease.
