About Igor Elman, DO
I believe the relationship between a patient and their doctor remains a treasured and essential pillar in helping to promote a person's well-being. My MDVIP-affiliated, personalized primary care medicine practice allows me to spend more time with each of my patients to discuss their unique needs and help them as they work toward improved health.
My experience as a board certified internal medicine osteopathic physician includes four years practicing internal medicine as a full-time hospitalist at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, a high-volume Long Island, New York, cardiac center. As a hospitalist, I was the lead attending physician, helping to review my patients’ care and plans with other medical specialists in the hospital. I also maintain admitting privileges at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York.
I offer a different approach to primary care with conveniences like same- and next-day appointments with minimal waiting as well as my reachability by phone for more urgent medical needs. My practice is in New City, New York, and is open to new patients, including Medicare and commercially insured. I also offer the annual MDVIP Wellness Program, which includes comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices and can help identify risk factors.
I also have a strong focus on prevention and can offer services outside of the Wellness Program, such as carotid artery wall ultrasound (CIMT) that may detect soft and intermediate plaque in the blood vessels, as well as advanced cancer screening methods, like genetic cancer screenings and multi-cancer detection testing options, which carry an additional fee. I emphasize exercise/dietary lifestyle modifications for weight management and have experience using GLP1 medications for meaningful weight loss under professional supervision.

In early May 2024 I woke up with excruciating pain in my upper back/neck area. My head was locked in a downward position, if you can imagine.

The most important thing to me is that Dr. Elman is always there when I need him. I’m getting older now and I have many questions and whenever I call Dr. Elman he answers. It could be a holiday weekend or a Saturday night, and he is always there to answer me. This gives me so much comfort and relieves my anxiety. Also he is a very smart man and so kind and caring.

I had my first visit with Dr. Elman this past week. He is a very professional, competent & caring person. He was very interested in my past & current health history & spent an amazing amount of time in getting to know me & my medical history which was fairly extensive. He is easily accessible and timely initiated a phone call to report on blood tests done 2 days prior. The blood work was more extensive than what I had had in the past. He provided answers to questions that I didn't know to ask! His assistant, Ashley, was patient, knowledgeable & thorough. Tests included EKG, BP, PO2, Weight/BMI, hearing & more. She used a butterfly set up to do bloodwork for my small veins. First time I had no bruising after! Kudos! I'm very glad that I found Dr. Elman as my new primary provider and highly recommend him & his staff!

Yes, you have to become a member of MDVIP to become a patient, but if you are hesitating, think about your recent encounters with a doctor, likely running late, cutting your appointment short, barely aware of your file. Imagine, instead, a first hour with his nurse, taking your temperature, oxygen, pulse, blood pressure on both arms, and legs, running an EKG, assessing all aspects of your vision, checking your weight and BMI, grip. Then, as a new patient, spending an hour creating your health profile, meds, vaccinations, surgeries, procedures, systemic questions, social questions. He will continue to ask you if you have any questions, and will stay in his office until they have been answered. A brief physical will follow, likely because so much of the appointment was spent on the data. He will go over results for any tests. If you forget something, he will answer your message the same day. This is a complete turn around back to a healthy doctor/patient relationship.

I just had my annual wellness physical and he spent nearly three full hours with me — not only answering every question I brought in, but also offering insights into areas I didn’t even know a doctor could be knowledgeable about. He was patient, deeply supportive, and impressively well-versed in both traditional and progressive, integrative modalities. As a D.O., he brings a holistic perspective and sees the larger picture of health and healing. I’m generally quite critical of the medical profession, but I give Dr. Elman my highest recommendation. I have been a patient of Dr. Elman’s since late 2019. I will tell everybody that will listen how him and his practice are worth every penny! To have a doctor in this day and age that makes you feel heard and not just like another number is a game changer. Just today completed an initial physical exam after a previous "get to know" meeting with Dr. Elman. I was impressed by his sincerity, compassion and openness then but now I fully understand that my first impression did not capture the entirety of this physician's extraordinary attributes. He believes in absorbing not only the physical findings during an exam but strives to get to know you as a "whole person" seeking to fully and meaningfully recognize you while appreciating the importance of one's emotional and life circumstances both past and present- a doctor that treated this new patient as a unique individual- a well trained internist who I enjoyed chatting with about literature and history which provides a well rounded context for empathy and an understanding of all aspects of the human condition not merely just lab results and clinical finding. A healing karma that sees one in the context of our varied histories and realities. Dr. Elman is a gift to be cherished. I am certain that others under his compassionate care have like sentiments.

Have you had a medical issue come up on a weekend? A holiday? rather than heading over to urgent care, would prefer speaking to the doctor who knows you and your situation, but you can't get through until a regular business day and even then can't get through to the Dr. right away? If you're a member of Dr. Elman's practice you will have the benefit of his support, expertise, kindness and empathy when you need it, He has responded on a weekend and even when he was out of town with family I got a call within minutes when I needed post surgical help. If the MDVIP charges are within your ability to handle, the return is well worth it.

Dr. Igor Elman has been my parents' primary care doctor for the past year. What a difference he has made in their lives! Mom and Dad are in their 90s, and have many complex needs. Dr. Elman gives such devoted, personalized attention and addresses their medical concerns quickly and effectively. He responds to our phone calls and texts quickly, and we never once felt that we were bothering him. Mom and Dad had a few health scares this year, and Dr. Elman immediately knew what to do to help them.
