About Jacqueline Skaggs, DO
I am an internal medicine specialist and primary care physician who has been practicing in the Colorado Springs, Colorado, area for more than two decades. I believe that each patient should be viewed as a person and not solely as a list of medical diagnoses. I can review multiple and complex health issues, and I also have a strong interest in preventive care, which allows a proactive approach to help avoid problems rather than just reacting to complications afterwards. This goes hand-in-hand with my other interest, sports medicine.
It is wonderful to live in Colorado where there are so many opportunities to stay active. I believe personalizing health care is rewarding for both the patient and the physician. In my smaller practice, I can offer you more time together to discuss complex health issues, develop a personalized care plan and have a greater focus on prevention to help you as you pursue enjoying the healthier, more active lifestyle that I believe you deserve.

For the last 3 years I’ve been seeking answers about the cause of my chronic pain and fatigue. I wanted to try MDVIP so that I would be listened to, taken seriously, and be supported and HELPED. Unfortunately in my experience Dr Skaggs is harsh, unempathetic, insensitive, and stuck up. She doesn’t care about me and doesn’t want to help me and that’s very clear.
When I told her tearfully about my history of seeking new doctors because of being dismissed, she seemed receptive. She told me my pain is from my lifestyle choices even though my cholesterol is perfect and I’m not concerned about my lifestyle or weight. She pushed weight loss medication. I thought she knows best so I’ll try.
I lost weight and it did not help at all with my pain. I called and asked for an appt to talk about how desperate I am for help. She said it’s probably fibromyalgia and I asked if we can diagnose it. She said no cuz she “doesn’t like that diagnosis” lol. She said we could try a shot in the dark, an anti inflammatory medication (even tho on my wellness exam my inflammation was normal). Of course this didn’t help at all.
I don’t have her direct number even tho that’s supposed to be the whole point of MDVIP. So I played phone tag. I called and asked whether I’d need to come pay for ANOTHER appointment to let her know the new med didn’t work or whether she could prescribe me a muscle relaxer to help my pain. The receptionist said she would ask Skaggs and get back to me.
WEEKS went by and I had no call back.
I left a voicemail explaining how let down I feel and how desperate I am for help and it’s been 3 days and they haven’t called me back.
I am appalled at the way they’ve mistreated me. Yall should be ashamed. This is not the experience I signed up for. Are you not in healthcare to help people???
I regret wasting my time, trust, and money here.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
