About Jayson A. Weir, MD

Early in my career, my two-year-old daughter heard a colleague call me, “Doctor.” I'll never forget the chuckle that came out of that kid. I have often wondered how prescient that chuckle was. As a practicing hospitalist for most of my career, I could understand what she took to be a joke: what was I really accomplishing for my patients? Attentive hospital medicine is important in healthcare, but I became interested in what could help keep patients out of the hospital in the first place. I received a lot of internal reward when I would explain to some patients, for what seemed like the first time, how changes in their diet could help better control their blood sugar or how to better breathe with chronic congestive heart failure by just tweaking part of their daily routine.

With that in mind, I opened my private internal medicine practice and more recently affiliated with MDVIP. I believe a key to healthier living and trying to stay out of the hospital is a strong physician-patient relationship, one that focuses on you and more personalized care for better health and well-being. Prevention and sustained improvement in medicine are my passions. I'm very proud of my practice in beautiful Carson City. Let’s get healthier and try to stay that way!

My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. I also offer same-day and next-day appointments with minimal wait times. And the MDVIP model gives us more time to discuss not only your test results, but also answer your questions more in-depth and get to know each other better.

In case you're wondering, my now teenage daughter still finds time to chuckle at her dad from time to time, only now it’s with a chorus of four siblings.

I decided to try out a doctor within the MDVIP group as I was very unhappy with my “conventional primary” doctor. From the first meet and greet to the review of my very thorough physical exam. I felt comfortable, heard, and cared for (none of which I experienced with my primary care physician).

I can’t say enough good things about my new MDVIP doctor in Carson City. After struggling with chronic health issues for over 10 years and feeling dismissed or ignored by other doctors and nurse practitioners, I finally feel like I’m on the path to real healing. In just two visits, Dr. Weir has done more to help me than years of appointments elsewhere.

He is everything a doctor should be—smart, kind, compassionate, and truly invested in figuring out what’s going on with his patients. He actually listens, takes your concerns seriously, and looks for real solutions rather than just prescribing anxiety or depression meds and sending you on your way.

If you’re tired of not being heard or being told "it’s just in your head," go see this doctor!

I like Dr. Weir and his nurse Monica; the rest of the staff as well. They are attentive and provide great care and genuinely seem focused on me when I contact them (via email/phone/in person). Their office is convenient and easy to get to. I never feel pressured or rushed when there. This experience has been positive for me and over the next few years as I get older I hope I can continue to afford MDVIP. Because going to other physician groups that rely on Medicare alone have been less than desirable. So much so, that I often found myself not wanting to call and schedule visits. This is not the case with Dr. Weir. I feel welcome and listened to. A few times Dr. Weir has encouraged me to make appointments or to follow up via the MDVIP messaging. Frankly, I’m still getting used to this level of care. Thanks Dr. Weir!

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
