About Jessica W. Burgert, MD
As a board-certified family physician, my passion is to provide highly personalized care to each of my patients. My desire is to help all of my patients (regardless of age or current state of health) to optimize their physical and mental well-being, happiness, longevity and productivity. I spend a lot of time with my patients in order to understand how their stressors, nutrition, environment, relationships, activity levels and more affect their health. It is my ability to listen and my desire to truly understand the root cause of a problem that led me to join the MDVIP family. The MDVIP model of healthcare allows for the optimization of the doctor/patient relationship through longer visits, more direct contact with the provider, and shorter wait times for appointments. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time. MDVIP understands that we (the doctor and patient) can work together for the best outcomes when we work as a team to achieve our goals. At Chapel Hill Family Medicine, we will do all of this in a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and a commitment towards customer service.
I think it is helpful to know a bit about me personally so that you can understand why and how I practice medicine. My undergraduate degree in Psychology has helped me to understand what makes myself and others tick, and I believe it is an asset in providing quality care to my patients. After graduating medical school, I spent time in the Air Force where I gained leadership skills and a profound respect for our military members. I have a passion for studying nutrition, integrative and complementary medicine in order to broaden my knowledge and to optimize my patients’, my family’s, and my own health. I enjoy being physically active and I encourage my patients to do the same. Finally, I love to teach and to write about health. I believe that knowledge is power and that my job as a doctor is to educate my patients so that they may feel empowered to take control over their own health.

I found Dr. Burgert to be extremely pleasant and easy to talk to so opted to stay.
She is thoughtful and thorough, and her empathy was especially needed when my daughter died unexpectedly 18 months ago.

Reviews from the web

Dear Friends at Chapel Hill Family Medicine,
I want to Thank You for your very kind card after my recent surgery. Every time I started writing this note it turned into a 10-page essay about your organization's excellence, authentic caring, moral integrity, and professional competence.
At its rarified best “old-school human” Family Medicine is the equivalent of “old-school human” Family Love.
I realize we live in the same world and that you may already know how "one in a million" rare you are.
In case you do not realize it, having led numerous organizations, I know how challenging, unique, and magical that is. And I know how fortunate we are to be in your caring hands.
That level of kindness can change the world. It changes our own small world for the better every day. Hopefully, you will understand what is in our hearts that our words cannot possibly convey. It’s like trying to explain The Beatles. Simply not possible.

outcomes were successful, and she and her staff's professionalism and compassionate care made enduring those medical problems so much easier. MDVIP's system delivers the type of medical care I wish everyone could enjoy. Eric Frazier

We love each of them and trust them with our health.
It is certainly a financial sacrifice for us to join, but we feel that the care we receive is priceless,

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
