About John Cottingham, MD
My goal as your personal doctor is to partner with you to discuss your current health problems and create a personalized healthcare plan to help as you work to prevent new ones. I believe that people have specific medical needs and desire a unique path to improved health. I can work with you at each step in your care to assist you with making informed decisions about how you can pursue your goals – whether it's running your first marathon, improving your nutrition or reducing the use of medications when possible.
I emphasize lifestyle medicine in my practice. I will seek to avoid prescription medications whenever possible and get to know each of my patients on a deeper level, beyond just their immediate needs.
I maintain board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine. My primary care practice is located in Webster, Texas, and focuses on preventive care in addition to family medicine. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments with minimal waiting, which may be found in a concierge medicine practice. GREAT doctor, best one ever. Takes his time with the patient during the visit, explains everything in a way that I can understand, definitely goes above and beyond. Both my husband and I go to him for several years now. We will follow this man wherever he goes!!! I have to also mention his office staff, Jacob is awesome, very pleasant and very helpful.

I highly recommend Dr. Cottingham and his office staff. You get individual attention and Dr. Cottingham spends the extra time to listen and understand your needs. There is no wait and the whole scene is tranquil and relaxing. Plus, you are not put on hold for an appointment and they get you in very quickly.

I've been a patient of Dr. Cottingham since 2014/2015. In that time he has been such a pleasure to visit, something that can rarely be said of medical appointments. He puts you at ease, has incredible recall of not only your health but personal things you may have shared months prior. I've never felt rushed through a visit. It's so much easier to pay attention to my health and well being when my doctor makes me feel like an active participant and partner in anything that may be happening. On top of it all, the new practice set-up of concierge medicine is next level. When I had covid and called on a late Saturday the phone was answered by Doc and I had medication and a plan within an hour. Truly next level care. I could go on, but hopefully this all encourages you to make an appointment and have a great experience!

Dr John and his staff including Jacob and Hailey are number 1 when it comes to Patient services. They are always courteous and polite with the utmost in manners. They are very professional and informative. I have never been to Dr John’s office and had a poor experience and that in itself speaks volumes!!! I will never go anywhere else!!!

Couldn’t resist commenting… I don’t know of any doctor offices I’ve ever called where I got right through, we all have to wait on hold for sometimes absurd amounts of time. THEY ALL DO IT! Your situation though couldn’t be more clear…..you do not know or did not know 2 things that were kind of important for you or anyone to avoid a miscommunication like you had.
1.) That they are a “Concierge clinic”
2.) And also what a Concierge clinic is.
Look that up and what ever it was that wasn’t clicking or was being miscommunicated, will instantly make sense…I don’t think it was racism…

They have a racist lady that answered the phone. They discriminated us for being Hispanics. Tania finally answered the second time I called. She put me on hold for 30 minutes and than hanged up. She said they only take blue cross insurance but we had to pay 1,900 dollars. And that if we weren't ok with that the doc won't see us. Please have better personal because the ones you have their are very rude. My call was recorded too so please let them know they are wrong

Medicare requires me to have a PCP for a health insurance policy. The agent assigned me to Dr. Cottingham bc of proximity but they don't return phone calls & haven't replied to faxes from my neurologist for me to get authorization for tests. Maybe it's closed down? It's been weeks.

Dr. Cottingham is one of the best drs I've been connected with. HIs dietary advice has literally changed my life. He was patient with me and talked to me without judgment when I complained that his advice was too hard at first. I used a ton of tissues in his office and he maintained a calm and caring approach, and we visited several times before I was willing to give his advice a try. He has helped me bring my A1C, glucose, and insulin numbers into normal ranges from very high levels! I lost 30 lbs in a reasonably short amount of time because of the changes he prescribed.
He sees me every 2-3 months to ensure I am maintaining my levels. I have recommended him to many friends and family and everyone has been pleased with their experience. I can't say enough good things about Dr. C! If you struggle with obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc., he's your guy! He won't sugarcoat it, but he will help you!!!

I've been a patient of Dr. Cottingham since he took over for Dr. Bowman. Waits are generally short and they're excellent about calling in meds, getting paperwork or whatever you need done pretty quickly. His nurse April is just awesome! She always makes you feel welcome and is very easy to talk to. If you have to be sick and see a doctor I really reccomend Dr. Cottingham and his crew.

I was referred to Dr. Cottingham by a friend. I have avoided doctors for a few years because in trying to find a new gp I have had nothing but negative experiences. I have not met a doctor like Dr. Cottingham since my doctor when I was in Virginia. Dr. Cottingham actually cares, takes the time to listen, he talks you through your results and actions to take,very informative, and is incredibly supportive. His nurse April is just as amazing as he is. I am so glad my friend referred him to me.

Dr. John Cottingham is an extremely knowledgeable doctor who happens to also possess something very rare in many doctors these days, he actually cares about his patients and their well-being. He also has the personality to make you feel very comfortable and he takes the time to find out anything you might be feeling or dealing with when you visit. I would, and do, highly recommend this doctor to family and friends. He doesn't have to "practice medicine", he knows it!

Present administrative staff, the last visit on 6/30 was very polite and professional. Earlier last year had even hard times trying to talk on phone just to get an appointment with Dr. John Cottingham. Honestly I really like Dr. John Cottingham and his nurse April. I just go to this Clinic because of them only and they are very nice happy and kind health care professional.
Hope the front desk Ladies are changed earlier they used to be rude on phone, it appeared they were frustrated or did not care.
