My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

As the daughter of a family physician, I always hoped to emulate my father in his profession. And now, as a practicing physician in center city Philadelphia, I continue to model my father's approach: attentive, thoughtful, careful and patient. As an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I will be able to closely work with you to help you achieve and maintain your health goals. You will benefit from my education, experience and energetic commitment to care. I also offer conveniences, like same- and next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.

In addition to my interests in preventive medicine, cardiovascular health, diabetes, hypertension and women's health, I am a board-certified geriatrician. I am keenly aware of the complex medical issues that people face as they age. I am dedicated to providing quality, evidence-based medicine to effectively treat and guide all my patients. I listen to my patients, treat them effectively and serve as their advocate through a complex medical landscape.

I am affiliated with both the University of Pennsylvania and Jefferson Health networks and my office is in downtown Philadelphia.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Oppenheim

from Danny in NJ March 15, 2024 for Laura Oppenheim, MD

Dr. Oppenheim was my internist prior to her joining MDVIP. When she joined I did not immediately join MDVIP, as I didn't think it was necessary. I did stay with the same practice just got another Dr. After a medical issue, my wife urged me to join MDVIP so that I would have Dr. Oppenheim as my internist again, I listened and joined. Dr. Oppenheim listens as you explain what is going on with… See more

I would like to nominate my doctor, Laura Oppenheim. It has been a little over 2 years since I joined her practice at Ninth Street Internal Medicine.. Before that I was in the Penn system since I was a Penn employee. I had seen several primary physicians over the years and one by one they moved on. I had to really work hard to find another doctor but eventually found one who was taking new… See more

Dr. Laura Oppenheim has been my PCP for many years. When she became a MDVIP physician I followed her. I made accommodations in my budget for I couldn't imagine her not continuing to treat me. The relationship we've formed through the years enables her to treat me as a person not a only a patient. I value her attention and care. She is a very special person.

from Sharon in PA March 11, 2024 for Laura Oppenheim, MD

Dr. Oppenheim has followed me for years. I have a number of medical issues and look upon her as the captain of my ship. She coordinates my care and always guides me in the right direction. I trust her implicitly! The one moment that I remember most occurred approximately 15 months ago when I was hospitalized. My hospital team was divided on its recommendations for surgery. Dr. Oppenheim… See more

from Philip in PA March 10, 2024 for Laura Oppenheim, MD

Some years ago, when I was having relationship problems , Dr Oppenheim took the time and had the interest to sit with me , listen to me, talk to me and try to help. It was much appreciated. It displayed a level of concern that told me I wasn’t just a bunch of medical problems to be solved but a real whole person.

I do not have a specific milestone but my story is simply about my doctor's ongoing support. I was a patient of Dr. Laura Oppenheim before she became a VIP Doctor, but because of the care that I received, I decided to stay with her. Wether it is an annual exam or followup appointment, Dr. Oppenheim handles each appointment with equal importance. She took the time and got to know me and my… See more

I have worked with Dr, Oppenheim since before she began her MDVIP practice and it was important for me to continue the relationship. She is the best primary care physician I have ever worked with. She is warm and caring but professional and appropriately boundaried. She is responsive and easy to reach. She coordinates extremely well with other providers. I have recommended her to others… See more

One of the things that I truly appreciate about Laura Oppenheim is the promptness with she responds to phone calls and portal messages. I have never had a physician who is so quickly responsive. And the information she shares is both reassuring and challenging, giving me instructions and advice with a calm, engaging voice that sends me into action. This has been consistent since I signed up… See more

I have been a patient of Dr Oppenheim for many years. She is patient with her patient-and answers my questions and gets back to me quickly via email of by phone when I have a concern. Also handles my anxious moments with understanding and patience. A good moment....my last wellness exam. For the first time since becoming her patient-my LDL and my Apolipoprotein B were within the reference… See more

For some time, last summer, I had been experiencing ‘pins and needles’ in both my hands and feet and sometimes in the left side of my head. I mentioned it to Dr. Oppenheim, thinking it probably wasn’t anything serious. She said, “Let’s get an MRI of the brain for you.” I thought, “Oh-h-h, darn! My BRAIN now?!” I’d already had MRI’s and X-rays for other parts of my body that year. “And… See more
