About Louis H. Cox, MD
My philosophy in the practice of medicine is to work in partnership with my patients not only to review acute illness but, just as importantly, to help guide my patients as they work toward living a healthier life. This, of course, can involve medications, but I also work with my patients to discuss lifestyle changes which could contribute to better health, and better health could mean that you can do more of the things you like to do for longer.
I offer the annual MDVIP Wellness Program, comprised of advanced screenings and tests that can help identify certain risk markers. The results can provide additional insights about your health status and aid us in designing an action plan to follow as you pursue improved health now and for the future.
I have many years of experience in inpatient physical rehabilitation and a strong interest in using exercise and activity as part of a comprehensive approach to improving health.
I practice in the Oklahoma City, OK, metropolitan area. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments with minimal waiting, which may be found in a concierge medicine practice.

Reviews from the web
Doctor a lot less stressful.
Dr Cox was thorough and explained the results of the Wellness tests. He answered my questions to help me understand the results. I learned how & why some things might affect my wellbeing.
o He is in the final stage of heart failure and an insulin dependent diabetic (type 1). The last time Dr. Cox saw my ward was on December 4, 2024, to get a referral to try and save two of his toes after two stints failed and required a bypass to save his leg.
o He gets wound care three times a week through Intregris. He is progressing.
Reason for the one star rating:
o On January 27, 2025, I got a call from Myles Davis at Dr. Cox's practice saying that Dr. Cox was going into a different type of practice starting April 1st. He explained the preventative nature of it and of course anything that we can do to catch illnesses early is always a good idea.
o Problem: It's $179.00 per month and insurance doesn't cover it. My ward's meds alone are sometimes as much as $1,000 per month. He makes $1,594 in social security, that's it.
o Dr. Cox is only taking 300 patients with him and they have to sign up for the program before March 31st or find another doctor. Wow, 60 days notice to scramble scramble scramble. Is this indicative of the hippocratic oath our doctors are sworn to?
o I called and cancelled the appointment I had with Dr. Cox for March 6th because we were priced out and I had to find another doctor pronto.
o On January 28, 2025, I get a call again from his staff saying we had to have a scheduled appointment with Dr. Cox or he wouldn't renew my ward's meds. I called and made an appointment for March 31st.
o On January 28th I requested a renewal on one medication which Dr. Cox did do.
o On January 29th the med was shipped out from OptumRx.
o On January 29th I called and replaced Dr. Cox on my ward's insurance to another doctor closer to home which takes effect on February 1st.
o In two days (31st), I intend to cancel the March 31st appointment as we no longer need Dr. Cox's service.
o However, if the staff notices my review before I cancel the appointment Friday feel free to cancel it now.
o Added on February 7, 2025: The earliest I could get my ward in with his new PCP is March 18th (46 days without a readily available PCP). Insult to injury.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
