Reviews from the web

Dr. Mark Maldia and his staff have encouraged and assisted me in my quest for best possible health and function during retirement. Even when I've made only small gains or haven't changed much, they find something positive to praise instead of flogging me with "shouldas" and remind me of the most important focus for the next lap of my journey. They have been persistent in their emphasis on diet, weight, and exercise, which has helped me to make better food choices, limit the hours per day I eat, lose weight, and develop a more consistent walking and exercise routine. Currently I am walking a mile 3x/week and working out to strengthen upper & lower body strength and improve balance. Even though I am now retired and living primarily on SS benefits, the cost of MDVIP is still well worth it!

3/25/25:
I continue to appreciate Dr. Maldia and his staff. They listen to my concerns and promptly work with me to allay them. I like the brief online educational items of interest to me based on my health needs, as well as the encouragement each provides on my progress. I am particularly pleased with the efforts to find a blood pressure medication that lowered my BP without making me so sleepy. This year I have also increased my walking from 3 days to 5 days per week, from 1.0 to 1.3 miles, and from speed rate of 0.5 to 1.7. The functional gains I've experienced include fewer naps, better mobility and endurance at home and in my community, & improved stair climbing. I am also able to cook and garden for longer periods of time; I still concentrate to maintain balance for reduced risk of falls, but I worry less about attempting more.

Your office has an excellent staff which reflects favorably on the
kind of atmosphere you have established in your practice.

Dr. Maldia has been my physician for about 10 years and has provided me with excellent care. I trust his expertise and feel healthier than ever as I begin my eighth decade! On occasions when I needed a specialist, I had confidence in his recommendations. Initial appointments were arranged by his staff which was very helpful.
Recently my husband Lynn, also a MDVIP member, consulted him with left shoulder pain which we thought might be rotator cuff injury. Just as he got home having had some XRays, Dr Maldia was calling. During his thorough scrutiny of the images he found an artifact on the upper lobe of the left lung and asked if Lynn would return to have some additional XRays made, which we did. These showed and confirmed the artifacts.
(Lynn had smoked a pack of cigs.a day for over 50 years (with me protesting!) and had developed a persistent cough. I doubt that he mentioned this to Dr. Maldia though).
Dr Maldia advised consultation with a pulmonary specialist who reviewed the information and examined Lynn and recommended a surgeon, which his staff arranged.
When we met the surgeon our anxiety level was high.
This may have the briefest office visit in history.... (I say that thankfully).
The doctor kindly explained that the artifact was most likely the very thing no one ever wants to hear: cancer, but a biopsy would require a similar surgery and recovery as removal of the lobe which he thought was wisest choice.
Lynn agreed and the staff made the arrangements with the hospital for surgery.
We've never seen such a smoothly managed process from diagnosis, to pre-surgical lab tests, to admission, surgery, discharge, and follow-ups. With each doctors' support and co-ordination we felt assurance and knew we had the best of care and are greatly appreciative.
The surgery was successful.
Dr Maldia checked his patient several times a day and as needed. We were so very thankful that he took the time to request additional XRays and guided and supported us through an otherwise terrifying ordeal.
Thank you Dr. Maldia. May God bless you always.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
