I began my Ovarian Cancer journey over 8 years ago. Dr. Walend has been the nucleus of my care right from the start. I am still here today and fighting the fight due to how quickly her office contacted me after my ER visit where cancer was first discovered. She and her team worked quickly to gather all necessary medical details and send them to one of the best Gynecologic Oncology Surgeons in AZ. This is exactly what is needed when you hear the dreaded words " you have cancer" and suddenly you feel like a deer in headlights. Fast Forward over the next 8 years as I repeated treatments for 3 recurrences, she was my "go to" for anything that didn't necessarily require the Oncologist's attention. This was a lifesaver because the specialists in this field are usually difficult to reach without having to wait for callbacks, ect. Dr. Walend was able to handle many of the side effects of the various chemo treatments as well as side effects of several surgeries. I can't say enough about the incredibly thorough annual physical that I receive thru MDVIP. my past physicals were mostly controlled by what insurance companies would and would not pay for. The MDVIP annual physical is designed really determine the patients total overall health and what can be done to make improvements. This allows for discussions about what we can do to improve our overall physical health. We always discuss opportunities to improve our health through exercise , nutrition, and give attention to overall mental health. Twenty five plus years ago I was randomly assigned a young doctor at a clinic I was trying out for the first time. Being a young woman, I rarely thought of doctors, and was unhappy that circumstances forced me to see one. Ugh - I hated being there! When the exam room door opened and Paige Walend bounced into the room, I knew at that moment my life had changed. Seriously. She asked how I was and REALLY wanted to know! Despite being busy and over loaded, she took the time to talk with me, looking me in the eye instead of reading her notes. 100% of her attention was focused on me - the whole person - and I think I fell in love with her that day. She became a sister to me as only a true confidant can be. No subject is taboo, no conversation is awkward. Isn't this the way your relationship should be with your doctor? You bet it is. And now, over twenty five years have passed. I've seen pictures of her children from babies to college graduates. I've heard about her parents growing old. She saw me through the years my husband and I ran our business, and was there to applaud when we sold it and retired. I have cried on her shoulder when I lost a loved one, and frantically beseeched her to "just shoot me" when menopause hit. Her wicked sense of humor makes me look forward to my appointments (!) and her honest, straight talk lets me know she will always, always tell me the truth. I wish I could point to one thing that makes her stand out, but there are just too many examples. Too many times she has gone above and beyond for my benefit. Meet Paige Walend, MD

The art of family medicine is getting to know your patients. By spending quality time and working together on patient concerns, treatment options, wellness, prevention, and education, a strong partnership can be formed between the physician and the patient. This relationship defines success in primary care. It’s this creation of trust and understanding that allows proper health and enjoyment of life. My goal as an MDVIP-affiliated physician is to offer patients a primary care practice with adequate time to focus on their personal health and concerns. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time. I want to build strong and lasting relationships to improve not just quantity of years, but quality of life.

As a female family practice physician offering a personalized healthcare approach, I work with my patients on various medical issues. I enjoy partnering with my patients to focus on wellness, weight loss, fitness, women’s health, genetic predictors and healthy eating. I see patients of all ages from infants to geriatrics.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

I have had Dr Walend as my primary care physician for about 16 years. Even when she had a full load of patients, she always made me feel like she had all the time in the world to share with me.
I find her warm and personable. She talks about her family, and I see that she is a loving, attentive mom. We have talked about our parents, and she lets me know how her parents are doing on the East Coast. In this, I feel like she is a friend as well as my doctor.
I value and appreciate her approach to medicine. I feel she is current on new treatments, and aggressive where needed, and conservative as needed. Thankfully, I have no real health issues, and hope to stay that way. But knowing Dr Walend is on my team is a great comfort to me. Also, I travel for a living, and knowing that by being a member of MDVIP, I will have the best medical care provided if I ever need it while out on the road. It will feel as if Dr Walend is there with me.
Honestly, I had to take some time to consider keeping her as my doctor when I learned the cost of MDVIP. But because of the above reasons, and because of the person she is, I couldn't imagine finding another doctor who I trusted and LIKED as much as her.
With that, I know as I get older, the aches and pains are setting in. I hope I never have any large health issues, but I feel I am in good hands in case this happens. In the meantime, the website offers endless tips and education on having a healthier life. The exercise programs, menus, lifestyle suggestions are all there for the taking.

We discuss the pros and cons of any suggested treatment plan. And she has been persistent in solving an issue with my lungs. I found answers there and she was diligent in reviewing their findings and their treatment plan. I waited three months to get into Dr. Walend's practice. It was worth the wait. She gives me the time I need to discuss issues, lab reports and symptoms. I called her once at 9pm to get information about my symptoms. She told me what to buy over the counter to get relief and kept me out of the ER. I have used this after hour service twice and find it very reassuring to have a doctor explain what is happening and how to handle it. She calms my anxiety. She has been very thorough with my yearly exam as well as monthly appointments. I like it when she tells me I am healthy and need to continue managing my health. Dr. Walend is a good partner in my healthcare. I highly recommend her and have referred friends.
