Robert T. Turner, MD, FACP

Dr. Robert Turner is a special person, both as a medical practitioner of considerable skill, and as a diagnostician and as a director of therapy.

I have experienced his skill and wisdom a number of times since moving to the Richmond, Virginia area in May 2016. My wife and I both contacted Dr. Turner about the possibility of signing on to his MDVIP practice soon after moving to Richmond and have found him and his staff of first-rate nursing and administrative personnel to be always ready to help, whether the issue is a sudden need for an appointment to see him or the need to get a diagnosis or treatment of an emergent health problem, or reliable care over time.

Right now care over an extended period of time is of major concern to me. I have been treated for Lymphoma cancer for five months and am expecting a successful outcome within several months. Throughout this period, Dr Turner has been a great source of support, whether it was in identification or selection of oncological or other specialists to be of help in my treatment, or of providing care and advice directly to me.

I should mention with regard to the occasional need for my own consultation with other medical specialists, that from the very beginning of my contact with him, he has been a very reliable navigator in identifying and arranging appointments with top specialists in the Richmond area as my health circumstances have required. He is extremely well connected with a network of first-rate medical specialists in this area. That represents an important resource for me and my wife.

Finally, I must mention my great satisfaction with Dr. Turner at a personal level. He is always friendly and welcoming whether I am arriving at an office visit or am in the hospital and he is coming to see me while making his early morning rounds. His attitude is one of optimism grounded in fact-based medical judgment. He listens to my concerns, tries to be flexible in giving medical advice, but ‘tells it like it is.’

Dr. Turner was on time. He shared lots of information and I appreciated the printed information. I am glad he has students.

It's always so pleasant to be able to meet with Dr. Turner on MY schedule. I get excellent referrals whose appointments come fast. His office staff is really on the ball and his medical assistant handles many of our needs. We've been together for more than a decade and he knows all of my medical needs.

I've been with Dr Turner for almost a year now and have been more than satisfied with my treatment. Previously I always felt like "I was in the dark" when it came to my doctor visits. Always felt rushed and my concerns were never fully addressed. Dr Turner has explained my current medical conditions in language I can understand and developed treatment plans. In some cases he has referred me to a specialist with which I have been pleased. I'm so glad I made the change!

Always listens. I love that he allows students in training to follow him. He makes a great mentor.

Dr Turner has been our family physician for over 30 years and since he has joined MDVIP. Dr Turner is a fine doctor, very through, and has helped me to maintain my good health at the age of 77. He is caring and if there is an issue he feels needs addressing beyond his expertise he is quick to refer you to the right specialist.

Just called and spoke to VICKI. By far the most rudest person I have ever experience in the medical field. Amanda couldn't even answer my question, "IS Dr. Turner a Primary Care? He was listed as on at Henrico Doctors so I am a bit confused?". So she sent me to Vicki. Not only was Vicki rude, she spoke down to me, basically treating me as if I was stupid. Quite insulting actually. IF this is the type of person who represents this doctor, I would NOT recommend him or this location to ANYONE I know or even didn't like. Vicki should definitely be fired.

Dr Turner and his office are very approachable. They listen to my concerns and address them in a timely manner sometimes without me needing to go into office.

Dr. Robert T. Turner has been our family physician for well over twenty-five years, and I can’t praise him enough. He leaves no stone unturned in diagnosing a patient’s symptoms. When my husband made an office visit complaining of shortness of breath, Dr. Turner’s immediate testing, rather than simply speculating, led to a timely diagnosis of leukemia, resulting in treatment that prolonged my husband’s life. Without that diagnosis, he likely would not have lived more than a few weeks. In every instance, Dr. Turner has taken our complaints seriously and has acted quickly to facilitate effective cures. Besides being a sharply intelligent, careful, conscientious, scientific physician, Dr. Turner has been a warm and caring friend. It’s always a pleasure to see him.
