Let me preface this by saying I am a Registered Nurse (retired) and have worked with many types of doctors. From private duty docs to military ones, hospital to private practice docs. They all had one thing in common. No time for patients, no time to get to know them as people. Do I blame them? Not for the most part. It is the system, and the system is broke. I was a patient of Dr. Gini before he made the move to concierge doctor and MDVIP. And when he asked us to join him and MDVIP I asked him why he was making the move. His answer was simple. "I did not get into medicine to practice as I have been for the past years. I want to be able to sit down with my patients and really get to know them as people not as a diagnosis. I want to find out how their lives are and how they are being impacted by life." I have seen too many doctors who should not be practicing anymore. They are wiped out, tired from too many patients in the day, too many problems to deal with. Dr. G saw this and chose to make the change for himself, his family and for his patients. I chose to continue with Dr. G and his staff when I moved away from Reno Nv to Ohio due to my health. I now can pick up the phone any time of the day or night (and I know this because I have) and know that he is there for me, ready to answer the call. I have called him when I was about to get on a cruise ship in Boston and have him order me meds that I forgot for the trip. I have sent him pictures of rashes that I need looked at and know that he will take care of me. I see him once a year for my physical at the same time I reconnect with family and friends that still live there. I have a great deal of respect for Dr. G and his staff. They know me. They know who I am. I am not just a number to them. This is how medicine was supposed to be. Not what it is today with patients seen every 15 minutes and "you had better only have one complaint to talk about". This is not about insurance. This is about being cared for the way we are supposed to be cared for. And Dr. G and staff do it with the utmost care and concern for me. Thank you, Doctor Gini. YOU ROCK!!!!

Health is wealth. Each one of us has hopes, dreams, passions and pursuits. I believe the means to achieving all of this is through your health. My goal as your family medicine specialist is to work with you to formulate a personalized prevention and wellness plan. In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I have more time to develop close relationships with my patients and help you achieve your goals. I treat my patients like family, with compassion and understanding.

I try to practice what I preach and am a real proponent for health through exercise. Like most of us who forgot to sip from the “fountain of youth”, we realize the road to staying healthy is not easy. My primary care practice, sometimes referred to as a concierge practice, provides the level of care that fits you.

With 16 years serving as a doctor in the Reno, Sparks and Lake Tahoe areas, I have strong relationships with specialists in every arena to help with your unique needs. I also am Clinical Associate Professor for the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. I have hospital affiliations with Renown, St. Mary’s and Northern Nevada Regional Medical Centers. My spare time is spent with family, skiing, biking, swimming and kayaking.

And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Since we joined the MDVIP program we have nothing but high praises for Dr. Gini and his staff. We are always treated with friendliness by everyone in the office. On several occasions we have needed same day appointments and they always found time for us. It is such a pleasure to have a Dr. who will take time to listen to you. On occasion we needed to talk with the Dr. after hours and we always received prompt call back and Dr. Gini called us late on a Saturday night to advise us of test results and called in a prescription we needed. I have a number of medical conditions, necessitating a concierge doctor. Dr. Gini is fabulous. He gets back to me, through the website notes, quickly and has good ideas for me. He is also available, if need be, through texts and his personal cell phone. I feel I am a bit of a handful for him due to almost 58 years of type 1 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, retinal issues, gastric problems, and extreme sensitivity to the side effects of medications. He never makes me feel a burden and spends as much time as is needed with me. He is a highly compassionate man and has even held me, when my concerns become overwhelming. He is the best.

Dr. Gini is very good for referrals if necessary. I teased him about loving his surgery & asked why he didn't become a surgeon. I love Dr Gini. He is personable, thorough and shows a genuine concern for this patients. The only thing I don’t like is the cost. There is a lot billed to insurance but there is still the MDVIP membership charge. It is a little pricey for what I use but I pay for it for peace of mind. I have full confidence that if I had a real emergency or concern, , I would not have to wait 3-6 months for an appointment as is typical around here or be forced to use Urgent Care for my medical needs as I have had to do in the past. And Dr Gini is great. I would want to see him whether he was with MDVIP or not.
