About Saba Sheikh, MD, FACP
I am an internal medicine specialist, obesity specialist and primary care physician who has been in practice in the Columbia and Ellicott City, Maryland, areas for over three decades. Helping patients lose weight, improve insulin resistance and lead healthier lives is of particular interest to me. I believe each person deserves a personalized and compassionate approach to weight management and healthcare.
In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I am able to combine my knowledge and passion to help provide my patients with more personalized care and attention for their healthcare needs and goals. Caring for the whole person is an important part of my philosophy as a physician.
My practice is located in Columbia, Maryland. I draw upon my experience in helping adult patients with multiple chronic conditions, like diabetes, hypertension, asthma and cardiovascular issues, and I have a special interest in women's health.
In my decades of practice, I have developed close relationships with local specialists. I work with them, as needed, and the hospitalist service at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center for any admissions. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments with minimal waiting. And I can be contacted after hours for more urgent problems.
I have lived, worked and raised a family in Howard County for nearly 30 years and remain invested in the community. I see patients from Howard County and the surrounding Maryland counties. I speak Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi fluently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
