My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I chose to practice family medicine in order to have the opportunity to develop close and personal relationships with my patients. The continuity of care enables me to gleen insight into my patients' lives and the circumstances that may impact their overall health and well-being. My patients are my family members and deserve the best. My philosophy is for my patients to play an active role in their care, and as an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I am able to easily achieve this. Medicine is an art, and time and compassion cannot be overemphasized.

I became extremely ill in 2017, and was close to death. I was forced to retire, so I had no income. I was weak and sick, depressed, and disoriented being suddenly without a job or financial support. I needed help navigating the world of disability insurance and was lost. Dr. Schrader navigated this complex world and filled out my paperwork and gave me emotional support and very excellent heath… See more

I am fairly new to Dr. Shannon Schrader's practice but I have had nothing but positive experiences during our association. He is always upbeat. He is always forthright but communicates in a very direct and compassionate tone. I feel comfortable to discuss any issues with him. I feel secure, in competent hands and he has been there whenever I have needed him. He's a very… See more

It is a given, Dr. Shannon Schrader is a highly competent physician. As a physician, he has numerous positive traits that would create a vibrant portrait of his very effective healthcare practices. However, I really want to spotlight underlying core character attributes that serve as the foundation for making him an "exemplary" physician. For over 20 years, Dr. S has served as my personal… See more

Dr. Shannon Schrader has been my MD for almost 20 years now. Being a long term survivor of HIV (33 years!) I am pretty sure I owe at least the last 15 years to Dr. Shrader. He has seen me through heart trouble, avascular necrosis of the hip, increasing spine trouble , chronic pain and most recently Diverticulitis. He has seen me through the day-to-day run of the mill maladies that affect us… See more

My prime examples of the care I receive from Dr Schrader are when visiting my elderly father 2 years ago in Kansas City over the New Year, I awakened in the early hours of New Year’s day knowing I was developing a full blown UTI. I texted Dr Schrader around 6 am on New Years Day. He was vacationing in Maine, but responded immediately and found me an open pharmacy to get me the prescription… See more

Dr Schrader became my doctor at a time of my life where I was very much depressed with the entire healthcare system.

Dr Schrader has stood by my side and has had my best interest since day one. I went from ready to give up on life to insisting on living because he cared and believed in me.

Our relationship is more than a doctor and patient. I have a tremendous amount of trust… See more

From my perspective, Dr. Schrader has what I call an excelente clinical eye. I had a medical episode where I lost conscious for a minute and after preliminary test, at a renounce hospital, they wanted me to have extensive medical procedure. Dr. Schrader recommended to wait for a.short time and then have additional testing, which he recommended. The test results where negative, without the… See more

Back in 87 I was diagnosed with aids/hiv. I didn’t start to see doctor Schrader until the early 90’s. I had a viral load in the billions and 7 cells. I was planning my funeral and was ready to face the do you know the inevitable. When doctor Schrader took over my health., slowly my health started to make a turn for the better. 33yrs later, I’m completely undetectable and my tcells are in the… See more
