About Spencer Phillips, MD, FAAFP

I believe in you not only as a patient but also as a friend. I feel that a patient should not be treated as a geriatric or middle aged patient. Patient care should be individualized to achieve maximum wellness and vibrancy. I feel too often patients are made to feel old before their time, i.e. geriatric. Health and vibrancy can be achieved at any age.

Although I treat all age groups – pediatric, young adult, adult, women’s health and geriatric medicine, my ultimate goal is to maximize your wellness. I have a special interest in preventive medicine and personalized healthcare. I feel that prevention is the key to continual well-being. Our wellness program/executive physical has been ranked in the top 10 nationally. I have been privileged and humbled to be named the top family physician by Lancaster County Magazine nine times.

I have been a practicing, board-certified family physician in Lancaster County for over thirty years and have patients from all areas of South Central Pennsylvania – including York, Harrisburg, Reading, Ephrata, Quarryville and Lititz.

I make routine house calls on my patients and I see my patients when they are in the hospital. A few of the hospitals where I advocate for my patients are Lancaster General Hospital, Heart of Lancaster Hospital and Lancaster Regional Hospital. I look forward to serving you and your family.

What our members are saying

MDVIP Doctor Spencer Phillips had always had 'family" medical care in his practice. In May of 2021 I had a slight stroke, so mild, that I was released after one day ; but the night I went to the City Hospital, Dr. Phillips appeared in the ER to sit with me, while I waited to be attended to. He had been at his church's worship service, when he received news of my going to the…

My personal MD VIP is Dr. Spencer Philips of Willow Street, Pennsylvania. When my husband and I moved to a life care community in Pennsylvania, one of my concerns was finding good, reliable health care. We were so fortunate to have Dr. Phillips recommended to us. We met him, and we were impressed by what a caring person he is. We selected him as our personal physician. I am now 93 and living in…

When I first moved to Lancaster,PA, 40 years ago, I was given Dr. Phillips name as a new doc who had taken over a retired doctor’s practice. From that moment until today, he has been our PCP. First for our small family of three, then for our twin daughters as well. Dr. Phillips was our twins pediatrician as he and his wife had twins just a few years prior to ours. We trust him implicitly. One of…

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
