About Spencer Phillips, MD, FAAFP

I believe in you not only as a patient but also as a friend. I feel that a patient should not be treated as a geriatric or middle aged patient. Patient care should be individualized to achieve maximum wellness and vibrancy. I feel too often patients are made to feel old before their time, i.e. geriatric. Health and vibrancy can be achieved at any age.

Although I treat all age groups – pediatric, young adult, adult, women’s health and geriatric medicine, my ultimate goal is to maximize your wellness. I have a special interest in preventive medicine and personalized healthcare. I feel that prevention is the key to continual well-being. Our wellness program/executive physical has been ranked in the top 10 nationally. I have been privileged and humbled to be named the top family physician by Lancaster County Magazine nine times.

I have been a practicing, board-certified family physician in Lancaster County for over thirty years and have patients from all areas of South Central Pennsylvania – including York, Harrisburg, Reading, Ephrata, Quarryville and Lititz.

I make routine house calls on my patients and I see my patients when they are in the hospital. A few of the hospitals where I advocate for my patients are Lancaster General Hospital, Heart of Lancaster Hospital and Lancaster Regional Hospital. I look forward to serving you and your family.

What our members are saying

Dr. Spencer Philips is a one-of-a-kind. When he converted his practice to MDVIP, I didn't know what to expect. He has always been a caring doctor, but my experience has been so excellent. Soon after signing up with MDVIP, I had both knees replaced in a local hospital. Other than my family, he visited me more often in the hospital than anyone. More recently, through my bout with cancer,…

Since joining the MDVIP practice of Dr. Spencer Phillips, I must admit to feeling like a member of his family. He is very accommodating and very thorough and takes pride in knowing his patients and treating his patients as he would a member of his own family. I have never had to wait for an appointment and once arriving for my appointment, am greeted by the staff in a friendly and caring manner,…

I cannot say enough about our MDVIP Doctor, Dr. Spencer Phillips. His bedside manner, and passion for high level engagement in our care is quite amazing. We have been in the MDVIP Program for six months, and our cost has been more than covered twice with the service that Dr. Phillips has provided. We avoided 3 ER visits on Weekends, as there was never an option before. Those three ER visits…

I have been seeing Dr Phillips for so many years, we would have to check your files. My previous Dr. who was with Family First, retired so I decided to stay with the practice. It is always hard to get used to a new Dr., but it did not take long until I realized what a kind, caring man Dr. Phillips was and continues to be. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. He has helped me…

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
