About Steven H. Suchman, MD
Practicing medicine is an artform, involving a partnership between myself, the primary care physician, and you, my patient. This partnership is one of mutual respect and trust that is formed over time, as I care for you through the many ups and downs of life. My MDVIP-affiliated practice will give me more time to form close relationships with patients and enable me to offer MDVIP Wellness Program Plus, which incorporates a multitude of physical screening tools, an advanced cognitive screening assessment and a personal medication management program to help preserve health and vitality as we age. In my personalized care practice, I prefer to approach each patient without formularies or protocols based on the masses, as each patient is unique. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.
I have worked in Thousand Oaks since 1998, with admitting privileges at Los Robles Hospital. My practice serves patients from Ventura, Camarillo, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Oak Park, Agoura, Simi Valley Westlake and the surrounding areas. As a board-certified, family practice physician, I care for patients of all ages across the entire lifespan, from birth to death. I appreciate my specialty as it has allowed me to care for entire families across multiple generations. I have a strong interest in thyroid diagnosis and management, as well as wound repair. I also enjoy teaching and have been a mentor and preceptor to medical students, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. I speak and understand some medical Spanish, but a translator is recommended and available at my office.

Frequently Asked Questions
MDVIP-affiliated physicians use the Wellness Program Plus to help prevent little things from becoming big things – working to help patients enjoy life and be healthier. Those who value their health will appreciate having a closer doctor-patient relationship. Because MDVIP-affiliated physicians have smaller practices, they have more time for you, so you can receive the individualized care and service you deserve. Physicians offering the Plus program have a different set of testing to choose from than physicians in the traditional program; this testing looks at additional health risks. Plus doctors also use an advanced cognitive testing system to evaluate brain health and offer a medication review program.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
