About Teresa McKenzie, MD, FACP
For most of us, we are blessed to enter this world with a relatively healthy human body. There are things we cannot change, specifically, genetics. Fortunately, modern medicine has equipped us with many tools to better combat genetics. There are, however, many things we can change to promote living healthier longer. I have wonderful patients. I am particularly thrilled when my patients embrace prevention as much as I do. After 34 years of practice, I can't say enough about earlier detection of anything. The good news - it is never too late!
My practice focuses on internal medicine for adults. I believe in the great value of caring for family members and generations and am able to gain a much better feel for family history and how it affects each patient. As a female physician, I have a significant number of female patients. I truly enjoy women's healthcare. My male patients also do well albeit with a different subset of issues. I chose to affiliate with MDVIP because I believe our health is our most important asset, and my patients deserve the time to better address their concerns and understand my recommendations. There is also great benefit to being reachable to my patients. I believe it leads to less anxiety about health issues and, often, fewer trips to the ER or urgent care when possible. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. I offer the MDVIP Wellness Program Plus, comprised of advanced diagnostic tests, including a heart disease screening developed with Cleveland HeartLab and a brain health screening, that can better detect certain risk factors earlier, along with a personalized medication management program to help make your medications safer and more effective. I see a limited number of patients, allowing more time for urgent problems and same-day visits. I also offer extended time for appointments.
I trained at Loyola University in Maywood, IL - from internship through fellowship in internal medicine. I have been on staff at Rush Oak Park Hospital for 20 years. I find the subspecialties and consultants through Rush to be trusted resources. . I refer to specialists at all of the major university medical centers and some community hospitals in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. My practice is in River Forest, Illinois, and my patients are from River Forest, Elmwood Park, Oak Park, Melrose Park, River Grove, Westchester, Oak Brook and Hinsdale in addition to Chicago and many other of its suburbs. I would be honored to be your primary care physician.

Frequently Asked Questions
MDVIP-affiliated physicians use the Wellness Program Plus to help prevent little things from becoming big things – working to help patients enjoy life and be healthier. Those who value their health will appreciate having a closer doctor-patient relationship. Because MDVIP-affiliated physicians have smaller practices, they have more time for you, so you can receive the individualized care and service you deserve. Physicians offering the Plus program have a different set of testing to choose from than physicians in the traditional program; this testing looks at additional health risks. Plus doctors also use an advanced cognitive testing system to evaluate brain health and offer a medication review program.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
