Theresa Vicroy, MD

Dr. Vicroy is the most wonderful, caring, knowledgeable and kind doctor I have been to. Just walking in to her office makes me feel special, she is absolutely the best! She is a very dedicated and amazing Doctor. Best decision I ever made to become her patient.

The best decision I ever made was choosing Dr. Vicroy as my primary care physician. She has always been available to answer a question, minor as the question might be. The one thing I will never forget is that several years ago, actually in 2019, I developed a redness and swelling in my abdomen area. I had no idea where it came from or what it meant. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Vicroy immediately. This happened to be the day after my husband went into home hospice care. I knew that I was so stressed about that, and thought my problem may have in some way been related to that stress. When I saw Dr. Vicroy, she looked me straight in the eye, and told me not to say no to her. That she was admitting me right then to Methodist Hospital. I didn't know what to do, but her look told me to go. Fortunately, since my husband had just come home to hospice care, we had 24 hour care for him, I went. It turned out to be a pretty serious staph infection that had to be "cleaned out" several times before it was all removed. I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital, and was very well taken care of by all staff, including Dr. Vicroy who checked on me daily. When I was finally discharged and sent home with home health care for another couple of weeks, Dr. Vicroy came to my home to check on me. Practicing medicine is more than just practicing medicine. It's about caring, and understanding that the patient is a human being. Dr. Vicroy gets that. I am blessed and so grateful to her for all that she does to keep me well. I am well now, and very actively involved in many, many volunteer ministries. Busier now than I was when I actually worked for a living, and I can thank Dr. Vicroy for keeping me on the safe track.

I realized the other day that I have been with Dr. Vicroy for 20 years. And in that time there are many moments that actually stand out for me about her care. Two come to mind as most important at this moment in time. One was in 2013 when my own father was also under her care and he unexpectedly fell in another hospital setting and we ended up back at Methodist with Dr. Vicroy. Dr. Vicroy took the best possible care of my father even in his death and I will be eternally grateful for her help at that time. Two weeks ago, I had a reoccurrence of my bipolar disorder which I had not experienced in almost 20 years. When I called Dr. Vicroy she immediately told me to call my psychiatrist and she scheduled a full medical exam for me the next day. I was in fact fearing that I was losing my mind, and her quick and matter of fact response felt like the greatest comfort during these moments of severe fear. And I am moving again towards stability. Thank you Dr. Vicroy for always having my back in my most dire circumstances. 

Dr. Theresa Vicroy is more than a doctor; she is a friend. Teresa is a gentle and kind soul and is always ready to help when needed. She is an excellent diagnostician, but so much more. I often had to get her signature when I wanted to do something that required good physical health. She immediately responded, but gave me a way out if I thought necessary. Of course, I never took it. Whether, climbing Mount Adams, skydiving, or climbing the Sydney harbor bridge in Australia, she helped make me successful. Recently, I fell when I was in New Zealand and fractured my pubic bone. She saw me immediately the day I returned and insured I recovered to total health. She called weekly to check on me, and ensure things were going well, and then got me into a rehab program. On national Doctor’s Day, I can’t thank her enough for her dedication and help whenever needed , she is my SUPERHERO!
