My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My goal as your personal physician is to listen to you intently to understand your concerns, so we can develop a plan together to achieve better health for you. Mutual trust and open communication are essential for optimum health outcomes. I am blessed with a superb team of supportive staff members who are also committed to effectively taking care of your needs.

When I completed my family medicine residency at the University of Arizona, I established my own private practice in Tucson. The original solo practice has grown to six physicians. We have been affiliated with Arizona Community Physicians for seventeen years. I am certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics. I am passionate about helping people live the energetic, healthy lives that they want for themselves.

My story on Dr. John Z. Carter is not exceptional; it's just that he and his staff are exceptional people and always available, no matter what. I recently had an ER/hospital stay, resulting in a follow-up office call. This was nothing life threatening; however, Dr. Carter always demonstrates what a great listener he is. His advice is always thoughtful. He acknowledges my ideas and… See more

I have quite a few issues with my health, and when I first heard about MDVIP it occurred to me that the program might be a good option for me. I had already met Dr. John Carter a couple of times before as I had been a patient of one of the other doctors in the office who was retiring, and my impression of Dr. Carter had been very favorable. I have been Dr. Carter's patient for almost two… See more

After having two heart stents implanted, I was especially concerned when similar cardiac symptoms began to appear again. When my cardiologist did not respond to my calls, Dr. Carter advised that I go to ER for confirmation of any problem. The cardiologist on call at the hospital ER performed an angiogram and announced that there was no problem with my heart. Dr. Carter began to look for… See more

I have been a patient of Dr. Carter 18 years. When Dr. Carter decided to join on with MDVIP, it was a no brainer for me. He has kept me healthy and well for all of these years. Not only is he my Doctor, but a very good friend as well. I will be very sad , when he retires. But I will be very happy as well. He deserves it.

from Terry and Vicki in AZ March 15, 2018 for John Z. Carter, MD

We are patients of Dr. Carter for about 15 years or more now. We are so grateful for his caring of our health. He always has plenty of time on our visits and always willing to discuss what treatments would be best. We hope he is recovering nicely (and quickly) from his knee surgery. We do bless the day we found him for our doctor.
